Thread just for firmware links.
Firmware links only, discussions here: A129 Pro Firmware

I've got tired of going though other threads looking for links, so here is a thread just for links.

Please post new links to new firmware, I will update the post whenever I can.

*Since VIOFO deleted all their links to previous version firmware, I've uploaded all that I have.

2023-01-14:
I'm moving my repository (due to host allocation limits)
old address: http://www.xiongguoy.com/downloads/viofo/
new address: https://xsocam.com/downloads/viofo/

new repository is live, old will be down soon.
please update your external links.

The 20200604 release is listed as v2.0 in the camera, not v1.7.

Thank you for that.
I have not flashed this firmware so I don't know what it shows.
I just checked the memory address in the firmware and it still refers itself as 1.7, maybe there is a later section that overwrites it.

Please distinguish between beta releases and final releases.
Thanks.

There is no way to distinguish because a beta may be promoted as final,
for example 1.1 was initially released as beta for testing in this forum, and later got promoted as final on viofo website.

You could edit the post to flag them as released once Viofo decides that a beta version is the released version.

@xiongguoy Don't forget to update your post, there is 20200803 v2.1 on the official website. ;)

Could I also suggest adding the change log to each entry. That would help identify what, if any, new features are useful and whether to bother updating the firmware.

V2.1 firmware change log:
  1. Added 4K 21:9, 2K 30FPS + 1080P 30fps, 1080P 30fps + 1080P 30fps video resolution
  2. Added Parking Recording Timer option
  3. Added Enter Parking Mode Timer option
  4. Optimize looping recording in parking mode for slow card
  5. Parking mode recording solution fixed on FHD + FHD for better handle overheating.
  6. Fixed time-lapse recording issue while the memory card full.
  7. Menu language translation update

That link claims "File is in owners trash".

@DAP That's the problem of using developer's links. Never know when it'll be deleted. :p

Here you go: 20200724 v2.1 (rename the file to FWA129P.bin)

But if you're interested in the latest firmware, as i've mentioned above, firmware from Viofo's website is 20200803 v2.1.

I just purchased a new Viofo A129 Pro Duo from Amazon (USA) and the firmware on that unit is V 2.4. The latest I can see on the Viofo site is V 2.2, so I don't know where you'd find the 2.4 version and I don't know what changes there might be in it.

Wow, 2.4
This is not the first time we have seen new firmware from new machines.
Like the previous 1.3 was also seen only on new devices for along time until someone posted a copy, but by then 1.6 already came out.

Another brilliant move by VIOFO a company that exudes competence And attention to detail.

Just noticed today that the 2.4 version firmware is now on Viofo's Support website.
I'm staying with the 2.0 for now.
I don't have any problems with both of my 129 Pro Duo's on 2.0.
Don't want to piss off my wife. LOL!

A one liner change log doesn't really warrant going from 2.3 to 2.4 imo..

Is it just me or is it about a different hardware revision with newer Wifi module and therefore the update is worthless for earlier adopters anyway?

English is not my native tongue, but that's how it looks like to me.

Anyone keeps track of the change logs from 2.0->2.1->2.2->2.3->2.4?

I think I'm still a 2.0? The version which Viofo introduced parking mode recording at HD.

Nvm, found the change log in the firmware thread.
