I installed my new A229 Pro 3CH today and went for a test drive. When I go over any decent bump in the road I get the "video protected" voice message and the camera beeps. I live in the Chicagoland area so roads have bumps in some spots, but it's not like I'm going off-roading. I tried turning off g-sensing and the voice controls based on what I found from a quick google search, but the issue still persists. I've also tried updating to the latest firmware and switching to a different a different microSD that is on the Viofo recommended list, but still the same issue. Any ideas for what I can do to fix the issue? Very disappointed in this product and will most likely return, and get a different brand unless there is an easy fix. Thanks!

Do you listen to radio while your drive? Please also turn off voice control to have a try. Would you mind uploading a photo of all the settings on your camera for analysis?

I turned off voice control, but still have the issue. G-sensing is set to off and the firmware are the latest versions on the Viofo website for front and rear cameras. I reset the camera to default settings after updating the firmware per the instruction online. I'll provide specific settings you're looking for, but I'm not going to upload photos of every setting.

Please send us the photo of the G-sensor setting on your camera. Could you please upload a video here showing the issue for analysis?

Please advise us after uploading.

Welcome to the club.
There are 2 different G-Sensor settings;
1.) Normal Recording Mode (driving)
2.) Parking Mode
Can you double check you have the “driving” GPS disabled?

Just for clarification your dash cam has;
1.) Voice Notifications: (when camera speaks to you)
2.) Voice Commands: (when you speak to camera)
See attached screenshots.
In this instance it sounds like you want to disable Voice Notifications.
However, Viofo failed to add a “Guard Phrase” to prevent unintentional Voice Command functions.
Because of this sometimes the camera will trigger the emergency lock button by the radio, or you talking on the phone, or to a passenger, etc.

We asked Viofo to add a guard phrase like “OK VIOFO” to prevent unintentional voice commands.
Example:
“OK VIOFO, LOCK VIDEO”
“OK VIOFO, TURN ON WI-FI”
But, they haven't gotten around to it yet.

Wrong...VIOFO did not fail to add a guard phrase. A guard phrase is not needed. I have yet in two years found a need for a guard phrase. In the earlier releases of FW, there was small issues with accidental triggering of commands by the radio or external sound, but with later software releases I have yet to have an accidental 'action' triggered by my radio or other noise. The complaint from the OP has to do with 'impact trigger' and not a 'voice trigger' from an external sound.

Why you continue to belittle VIOFO and poke them over this eludes me.

So you know, I own 3 A229 Pro and do not have any issues with accidental triggering of file saving.

Use the screen capture of your phone, you will probably only need three or so images, upload to your computer and then upload to the link provided by VIOFO. You may have a overly sensitive camera, but until you know that, disable or reduce all settings that look like impact or motion or GPS and test from there. I have driven the Chicago metro area years ago....roads are crappy for sure.

You're going to have to do a little bit of 'self serve' here and work with VIOFO. If there is a problem with the camera you can return for exchange or refund. If you have not filled out the warranty on the VIOFO site you should do that. VIOFO has excellent customer service but you will need to work with them.

@Baumer8993 @VIOFO-Support

I have the a229 pro setup in a car with firm suspension and a high powered stereo system and find music with low bass notes will trigger the viofo emergency capture feature.
I noticed the windscreen is very sensitive to low frequencies, i can feel the vibrations it creates.

Placing the dashcam higher up the windscreen might help to reduce the false triggers. (Less intense vibration) (Not really false triggers as the dashcam is doing its job)

I have the sensitivity set to low and it still does it so I'll set to off today and update the result.

@VIOFO-Support @Baumer8993

Update:
Driving the car over bumps and playing deep bass tunes no longer affects the dash cam.

Setting sensitivity of the g-sensor to zero has stopped the false triggering.

These are the settings from my dash cam. I have never used parking mode but changed that to low sensitivity in case that was the issue. Had the same issue on my drive home. I ordered a VIOFO microSD from Amazon and just put it in. We’ll see if that the issue. Otherwise I think this dash cam is a dud.

I tried the new Viofo microSD and turned off the parking GPS and driving GPS, but still had the same issue on my commute this morning. Unless someone can see an easy solution here I'm just going to return the camera and buy another brand. I just don't understand how I can have the g-sensor off yet it still has the same issue. Extremely disappointing.

Since you have the wiring in, I would go for a replacement first. Your experience is pretty much a one-off and not the norm. Did you buy from Amazon or a local retailer?

You may update the firmware and reset the settings to test. We have not encountered similar issue actually.
