A229 - WiFi Station Mode

Have you ever tried to enable WiFi Station Mode in A229? I can`t find any information about what combination of buttons enables that kind of connection. MIC + WiFI or REC + WiFi didn`t work.
Thanks for advices!
 
Did you set up the wireless network? (name and password)
 
OK, after reinstalling camera fw WiFi Station Mode seems to be working correctly. One big minus, IP adress of dashcam isn`t shown up on screen like in model A129 (camera does voice alert about WiFi Station Mode and connection with local WiFi network).
 
How do you specify the name and password of the WIFI network for the Station Mode?

The Station mode works but so far I can connect to the camera in station mode only if I change the name of my network to what the camera expects:
Name(SSID) : W49_ and password: 12345678.

However I would like to configure the camera to connect to my network having a custom name and password for obvious reasons

I saw an option to set them from the android app but have not tried it yet
 
That works when the camera is not in station mode and it will define the WIFI settings for the default camera WIFI setup(non station mode or wifi server) but after you go into Station mode the app does not connect to the camera although I can see the camera on my network. I was hoping it would work like my old Viofo A139 but it looks like the app needs an update or maybe I am missing something.
 
@VIOFO-Support I have turned on the Station mode in A229 Duo and can see the live camera view of the camera in VLC so the camera is on the network and working well. However, I can only connect to it if I change the name and password of my home WIFI network to what the camera expects per its factory settings. Also, as soon as I go into station mode the VIOFO app does not connect to my camera anymore. My app is up to date.

How do I change the name of the WIFI network name and password settings for the camera's WIFI Station mode? If I turn the camera to non-station mode, so I can have the app connecting to it, and then try to change the WIFI name and password in the app settings that will only affect the settings for the non-station mode.

Just tested this today -camera goes into Station Mode and shows it is connected to my home network BUT how do I find what IP it has and what to use for viewing it?

There is a setting in the Viofo application to check the WiFi station settings. Find the attached screenshot for the same settings:

Please make sure that the firmware on your camera is the latest one. Then please connect to the camera wifi and enter the app. Then you will find WiFi Station Configuration in the settings. Then fill in the WiFi name and password( make sure there are no spaces in the password). Then the camera will restart after setting. Long-press the WiFi plus MIC buttons at the same time to turn on the wifi station mode. The camera will connect to your home wifi automatically. WiFi name, password, and IP address will be shown on the screen, which indicates that you have turned it on successfully.

Yes, I have managed to get connected to my home network and saw the SSID and password on screen so I know it had connected - did not notice the IP address BUT the camera is mounted on the passenger side of my mirror housing so a bit difficult to see! I will check again - a shame it can't be shown in the app but I realise the app is not connected when the camera is in station mode.

When I do manage to find the IP of the camera what do I need to view the output - does it have a web interface or is it just streaming video - if so, what protocol?

Because the A229 Duo has no AV port, the only way to view the output is to watch it through the VLC player. Please open the VLC media player and enter the internet streaming (Ctrl+N), then fill in "rtsp://IP address", then click Play.

We will soon update the firmware to support showing the IP address on the screen.

Oh, that's why I did not notice it on screen then - because it was not there!

At least I don't need new glasses yet!
 
Hi guys, I don't know how to make sense of this. My car is parked outside, so once I turn off the car, the wifi will also shutdown. So, does it mean that to control my dashcam through a home device, I have to turn on my car, go inside the house, use the device, and turn off the car once I'm done?

There is no way to turn on the wifi once in park mode right?
