The telephoto on the Viofo works really well.
The lens reflections eg the little dot are also found in high end phone cameras especially when pointing at the sun.

Old dashcams would struggle to see anything with the sun directly facing it which goes to show the huge improvements.

Side note: are you required in the US to turn on hazard lights at pedestrian crossings? It was nice the lady acknowledge you and it was easy to see in the A329 telephoto.

I can’t find any regulation that mentions pedestrians at crosswalks.
California Vehicle Code - VEH § 25251

I activated my 4-Way hazard flashers because there was a car behind me, and he could not see the pedestrians at the crosswalk because of the curve in the road.

It was my attempt at preventing a possible road rage event before it occurred.
Motorists in my area have lost their minds when it comes to driving courtesy, and following regulations of the vehicle code since around 2020.
Before it would take around 10 seconds for a motorist to go from calm serenity to foaming at the mouth.
Now it’s less than 1 second.
Motorists in my area literally do not understand how “right of way” works at a four way intersection without traffic lights.
What they do is stop 4-5 car lengths behind the white limit line, and when the coast is clear they run the stop sign at full throttle.
If they forget to stop 4-5 car lengths behind the white limit line, they refuse to go when it’s their turn, and instead wave all the other cars to go first.
Sometimes this causes two of the other cars to launch into each other.

I also installed super bright LED turn signals, and brake lamps.
So I use them at every opportunity.

Q: I didn't get this information specified anywhere even if it's probably trivial...

Which of the 3 cameras actually have motion detection?

All three channels can support motion detection. One channel detects a motion, all three channels will start to record at the same time.

Thank you for the clarification, details as these should be better specified on the product page

@Chuck McCoy
Thanks for the example videos they all look fine especially given the overcast conditions.

How have you mounted the side cameras and what model did you use? Rear water proof units?
Perhaps the 3M type tape stuck to the paint? Or under the mirrors.

To replicate this setup would i need to run 2 A329n models both running 3x cameras?

The side cameras reminded me like i was watching that Tesla YouTube channel where people crash either in front / side / back or into the Tesla. Wham bam Tesla cam or similar i think it's called.

Perhaps we can create a new channel - wham bam viofo cam. lol

Bonus Footage;

The videos are quite helpful! Two questions:

Is the video for the A329S FRONT CAMERA (separate post for rear & interior) DAYTIME CITY TEST LOOP the telephoto version (A329T)? I ask because the bottom of the video shows 2-CH TELE.
Why is the A329S HDR set to Off and the S1 set to On?

The text "2-CH TELE" is custom text that @Chuck McCoy has entered into the dashcam via the settings menu. This text appears in the On Screen Display text bar on all channels.

In the post you referenced, the telephoto video is the bonus footage at the end of the post.

Viofo recently released a firmware update that changes how the power button functions.
Here’s a demo.
Firmware: V2.0_260104
