I just purchased this dashcam (it was on sale at Amazon) and am trying to install it in my SUV. I don't need parking mode, I only want it for when I'm actually driving as most of the time I park in my own garage. So I'll just use the power cord direct to the cigarette lighter (won't need to hardwire it, don't care how it looks). In fact, if the E1 Pro works out I'll purchase another for the rear window since I have a cigarette lighter there as well.

The unit came packaged VERY WELL, looks fine, except for the LIFE OF ME I can't figure out how to change the angle of the mounting swivel. When I slide the cam into the mount the adhesive pad surface faces AWAY from the lens (so if I were to mount the cam in that position I'd get a very good video of my sunroof!). I'm looking for a release which will allow me to change the angle of the swivel but I can't find one. I don't want to force and break anything.

I've googled "E1Pro mount swivel angle". I've looked at various YT videos on the dashcam and how to install it. NOTHING.

Could someone please tell my how to change that angle? πŸ™‚

There is no button, but it does take a bit of force, you don't want it moving because of a pothole!

Try a bit more force...

Thank, for the information and the welcome.

You know, I bought this SUV which was "prewired for dash cam" from the factory (the option was about $200). When I picked up the car I found out that aside from the cost of the cams themselves, dealers wanted over $1000 for installation! Even private installers wanted over $800. How can that be, when the SUV is prewired? Who knows, just another mystery I won't live to see solved.

Frankly, for $100 vs $1000 (or $250 vs $1000 for front and rear) I can live with the wire dangling down the dash. As I say, I don't intend to use the cam(s) except when I'm driving (and will detach and store them away when I park outside).

Again, thanks for the post.

There is normally no need to leave the wire dangling, it is normally fairly easy to tuck the wire behind the trim, the power cable is the right length to be able to run it around the windscreen and hide it pretty well. The trim tool is supplied for pushing the cable behind the roof panel and into the rubber strips etc.

Decent cars come with a USB power socket behind the rear view mirror for dashcam use, so you can use a 10cm power cable, but you tend to need a Korean or Chinese car for that. I expect your "prewired for dash cam" was not intended for customer use and there is a hidden power connector somewhere if you remove the right bit of trim, which is only compatible with the car manufacturer's very expensive and poor quality dashcam, but allows the dealer to do the job in 3 minutes, for the $1000!

I think you're right on all counts. There are videos on the web showing what trim needs to be removed to access the prewiring; not many pieces but those there are seem VERY difficult to remove. Don't want to chance it.
