OK lets start a chat about AI and technical writing. style writing in particular.
Here is a quote from an AI engine warning about the results it posts and that it is possible for it to be wrong - shock horror lol
Note on AI Detectors:
Keep in mind that AI detectors are not always accurate. They often misidentify heavily structured, formal, or technical writing (like product reviews or spec sheets) as AI-generated, even if written entirely by a human.
So with that in mind when can you be sure the result you get are accurate?
Does it really matter if the content of the information is correct and discovered by the reviewer with prose helped by the AI that are later humanly rewritten so it makes sense?
I look forward to what the Dashcam community thinks of using tools to help them write a review including grammar checkers, spell checkers, cut and past information from the dashcam company that originally posted it and should you acknowledge that your information has been based on the company spec sheet and not from you pulling the unit apart to prove if it is true or not?
Keep in mind that if you even use a spell checker / grammar engine / thesaurus/ synonym / Antonyms you are in effect not writing in your own hand. and have had assistance. The grammar checker may help structure the sentence better then can think of at the time. Using a spell checker could be because you know the word but just can't remember how to spell it. Using Thesaurus synonym antonyms and am sure many other tools that I don't know about as I didn't major in English linguistics or in Literature and Critical Theory are available so is it wrong to use them to get your point across?
If you are dyslexic are you a lesser of a person if you use all of the tools available to you to get your message across in a understandable way or is it ok to be discriminated against?
We have been using tools to help us for ages including the dictionary which in my case didn't help. My mother would say look it up meaning look up the correct spelling, how do you do that when you don't know what the first letter is? An example is the word 'phonetic' you'll never find that word if you go by the sound of it.
So are tools that help you, should they all be banned? Perhaps we can be selective in the tools we think are ok today but will no doubt be different at some point in the future just like a dictionary. How many people even have one in their house that is under 40yo ? I am talking about the book hard cover copy not an electronic device.
