Any confirmed news on a new RearView

The new 1K rear camera for the A229 Pro/Plus will use the same cable as the interior camera, so if you could install the interior camera and then upgrade to the new Starvis 2 rear camera later, when available.

The A329 is indeed USB-C, and not compatible with A229 remote cameras.

The 329 Rear from what I can see is using a coax..

So with my 229 proposed options on either stock rear, USB C or using the Tele and using the Interior 3.5mm format, a different POV is at the end of the day......it doesn't matter if I choose to wait to see if a new 3.5mm rear comes out as the IO inputs seems to vary from model to model as well. I get's it a manuf thing....

From a consumer POV, I'm just putting into consideration as I'm pulling panel guts to run the cable and not tucking into headliners gaps, weatherstrip, etc
I think I might end up doing sills and rear sears etc on both sides....One side for power. and the other side that will feed the rear, there is less wire on that side, so that seems like a prudent option to run....

Or I suppose with -noise- in mind, cut my install by 80% less time and just fish the 2 cables from inside the headliner front to back. I peeled away some lights and looks like it's free open access

Mainly for my intended use case, I just want some level of recording on front and back.....in which the current setup is .....due to how the inputs work relative to the 229. I have considered briefly just putting a Garmin Mini on the rear and just have tele/front 229 It's not a labor or cost issue....just wanted something straightforward in use, function and aesthetics....

I'm not crazed about the screen on the A229 nor due to shape....can't really put it behind review. Blocks sensors....
Function vs fashion....one of the better/best current Video Quality on the market, and I really thought the Tele+ Dual Combo was a winning combo....until it came to light on what inputs are supported and how.
We will release a new 1080P rear cam without IR LEDs, still optimizing it.
We can offer some free samples for those who have the telephoto cameras already while it is ready.

Thanks VIOFO

Thanks VIOFO. You have a PM

Extended 3.5 Cable arrived and as I get ready to take the panels apart to run wiring 🙄
Even though my tele lens shows 90 degree double ended cable in their install guide.....the cable they provide is single 90 and one straight end.
Off to order up a double ended 90 ....so install delayed again.

Anyone know if the telephoto is a standard USB 3.0 cable - I need to order a double 90 degree cable like the one that is show in the guide due to how cables will be come from *uptop* and connect sideways . Or is the cable a proprietary pinout, and all video cables need to come from VioFo ?

Ask @VIOFO-Support nicely and they might send you one:
We have rear cables with two 90 degree angles in our warehouse. We can send you one.

Can anyone Confirm if it's a standard USB C pinout or propiterary ?
I reached out to V@Support

I won't be able to use my rear until the new one is released but I ran the long 3.5 -> USB cable I ordered to prepare for this anyhow.
The camera side is a straight 90. I think it would look cleaner if it came straight down and 90 directly into the camera
Is anyone here using a USB Right Angle Adapter like I am thinking here.

A cable from another manufacturer may not work with the rear camera, so I used extension cables.
If you look, you can find ones with an angled plug.

I suppose using extension cables is extending whatever the -cabling pinout is- within Voifo Cables.

I can confirm it doesn't appear to be standardized cables and these is some special sauce specific to VioFo Cables .

For example, the tele - I was testing their stock .6M cable versus the 1M Thunderbolt 4 Cable I had.
It did not work at all with the TB 4 cable but the stock .6 length did.
You can see it easily as stock cable will show connecting camera on the display.
Any of my Thunderbolt Cables connected to the same USB C port did noting for the camera connected to it,

@viofo. Can we get a clearer answer.
Are the cables specific for these units

.
.

Now, I do not know by fact, but it may be due to circuitry on USB-C cable and circuitry on the USB-C port on the camera bodies. This in part may be due to the telephoto having its
own CMOS.

1st DashCam so I was oversimplying it when I saw what connectors it was using on the input....

I was thinking it's a USB C port, it should work....as I would have preferred a bit more length than their .6 meter cable that was offer

Now that I realized everything is all -manuf- specific..everything I though was going to be *best wire practice* goes out the door. Initially, I even was planning for the long run to the back to use one of my -fiber optic based- USB C cable to minimize on RF Noise

Our rear cable is customized and has its own protocol, so standard cables from market may be not compatible.

Paging Viofo . Just a suggestion
My tele did not come with the clear film.
I suggest it should be included with all camera, even the future *new rear A239 camera*

Has anyone seen or heard any updates on the new rear - connected to the interior camera port recently ?
We got side-swiped this weekend.

Would have been nice to have rear footage.
Right now, I have our Tele hooked up with the long extension cable in back with no camera

Thread Brump. Has anyone seen any whisperings on this new rear camera....

I've had out Tele + Pro hooked up for quite some time with their extended 3.5mm-usb c hanging out the back waiting

I see the spec on the box says 1080P Full HD. The normal RTC300 is 2.5K (IMX675). I wonder if that is the non-HDR IMX307 which is used in the A229 interior camera?

Perhaps this is a compromise of connecting a telephoto to the 3.5mm interior camera port?

UPDATE: My mistake not reading the box correctly. This is a rear camera, not a telephoto.
