This is my kind of interior cam, a fisheye. Any chance, probably not, a similar cam will be available for the A229 Plus? I'd just replace the existing one with this.

2K Wide 210* FOV Fisheye Cabin cam

It should not be supported

Awesome news to hear about the A229 series fisheye.

I presume it’ll be 4K/4K/1080p while the A329x’s are 4K/2K/2K. Getting more rear resolution in favor of more interior resolution is a trade off I could see lots of people making.

I’d also assume that it won’t have the A329-series features like SSD support and low power parking recording (?), though I’m curious how it’ll handle bitrates for the front cam with different camera counts. Perhaps a faster processor to handle the higher res rear cam will also allow higher bitrates for the front cam when running in 3CH mode.

Not sure that is a good tradeoff! If you want your fisheye to have reasonable resolution for outside the windows, it really wants a 2K sensor. I think 2K is almost always adequate for a rear view, unless you really want to record faces and phones being handheld.

A 2K sensor, with 1080 recording, would be OK. Then you can do the fisheye distortion correction and still have a sharp 1080 image, while a 1080 sensor is going to look a bit blurred after distortion correction, and at 1080 resolution you will notice it on a large screen.

The A229 Ultra will use a fisheye interior cam, it is also possbile can be used on A229 Plus.
Yikes. Wow, dream come true 🙂 This fish-eye is a cam I am looking forward to.

When will the fish-eye be available for the A229 Plus? I will assume the fish-eye interior cam will plug into the hole where the Interior cam plugs into right now? It will run in 1080p or 2k? 1080p is fine for the Interior cam.

I am running the A229 Plus now. Set it up this weekend. Runs well and I love the voice command feature. The new BTR200 arrived as well but I will read up on how to set one of the two side buttons to turn Off/On the Rear cam.

Based on the response from Viofo in the other thread, the above statement "it is also possible can be used on A229 Plus" is wide open for interpretation. It can mean anything including "...it is also possible can be used on A229 Plus.......but we're a long ways from making it work on the A229 Plus." It didn't say, it WILL work today on the A229 Plus.

Will the firmware in the A229 Pro/Plus models be adapted to work with the internal fisheye camera from the A229 Ultra model?

The fisheye interior camera for A229 Ultra can be used with A229 Plus/Pro directly.

I am NOT Viofo but think they already hinted it may take a bit longer which is no guarantee either.

@viofo. I can now buy the A229 Ultra Interior fisheye cam and use it right now on my A229 Plus? Link to buy it?

The A329 fisheye appears on this page. The A229 fisheye isn't there yet, but it is available for purchase with the A229 Ultra.

I suggest you contact Support at that website and ask for the fisheye only, explaining that you want to use it with your A229 Plus... seems likely that you will be able to order it, but let us know the result...

I doubt that it will be available separately elsewhere for some time, if ever, so that is the place to ask.

Thanks. I'll keep checking the website. PS. I could try and get a wider coverage with the A229 Plus by placing the Interior Cam on the windshield.

Ask support, they will sell separate items/combinations not listed, or may get it added for you.

With the fisheye, you won't need wider coverage, it already goes 180°+, but yes, further forward can help.

How about the A139 Pro? Can that work with the fisheye lens?

That will be a no.
It has coax inputs, so would need the A329 version, but it can't manage a 2K camera.
I'm hoping for an updated A139 though, which presumably could use a fisheye cabin camera...
