I made a quick audio test on my 2 weeks old G90-7s with a version G90-ZX-A770-785-S-H.
The static noise is very feint and tolerable but i want to know where it is coming from. I uploaded the short video in youtube so I can post it here. Here below is the test description, hope it make sense.
Test #1: engine ON, dashcam mounted, power from carcharger.
Observation: with low static noise.
Test #2: engine ON, dashcam mounted, power from usb charger.
Observation: with low static noise.
Test #3: engine ON, dashcam handheld, power from car charger.
Observation: with low static noise.
Test #4: engine ON, dashcam handheld, power from usb charger.
Observation: with low static noise.
Test #5: engine OFF, dashcam mounted, power from car charger.
Observation: no static noise.
Test #6: engine OFF, dashcam mounted, power from usb charger.
Observation: no static noise.
Test #7: engine OFF, dashcam mounted, power from portable power bank.
Observation: no static noise.
Conclusion: The vibration from my diesel engine is causing the static noise being picked-up by the super sensitive microphone of G90. On the other hand, there is no static noise when the engine is turn off.
Action Plan: 1. I will try to wrap the mic with a thin cloth that will serve as a sound filter; 2.Put a double adhessive tape around the mic mount to hold the mic in-place and to shield it from vibration.
I dont know if this will make sense, hope to hear some advise from dashcam guru.
