Automatically switch from video to photo mode?

Is it possible to automatically switch a Maxi from video mode to photo mode without physically pressing the ****ter button? Perhaps through a script?

To clarify, I'd like to use the 'automatically record with external power' to turn on the Maxi, record 5 min of video, then shoot a burst of 5 photos; repeat until power off.

Is this doable, or do I need to settle for a single mode?

It won't do what you have in mind but the Maxi does have a photo burst mode you could try out. Never used it myself so I can't advise on the functionality.

I've never found the photo mode to record much better image quality than video. You could consider recording on a 5 minute loop duration, then extract the first 5 frames from each video clip.

I was trying to shoot the video at lower resolution to save on memory, but still have higher res photos as references. Looks like I'll have to compromise one way or the other.

You could try shooting at a lower bit rate (video quality). That would save memory and perhaps still meet your needs.
