I'm getting ready to buy a dash cam and since I'm on a budget I was thinking of getting the b1w. I've seen a couple post stating how it failed to record during an accident. Any b1w owners care to elaborate or just tell me how reliable the cam is? Would it just be better to just add in some more and get a a119 v2?

You can make a totally foolproof dashcam, and some fool will prove you wrong.

'not recording an accident' is more commonly related to owner neglect and/or ignorance.

Most dashcam failures are due to memory card or power supply problems.

You cant install even the best cams, and ignore them. You need to check periodically for proper function. Weekly, bi weekly.... Check that the camera is recording and saving files properly on the card.
You cant just look at the flashing lights on the cam, or the screen.

I have one of the earlier b1w s. Not a spectacular cam, but good in its class.
I didnt use it for over a year, maybe close to 2?
Cleaned it up, checked for updates, put it back into use, maybe 2 weeks ago.
No problems.

The a119v3 is also a reliable cam.

Either will be reliable and functional for years with modest attention.

You are on the right track.
