Last Christmas, I received a Nextbase Dashcam IQ4 from my then-girlfriend. Shortly thereafter, we had a less-than-amicable breakup. After installing the Dashcam myself, I wasn't able to get it to function properly. When I tried to contact their support department, they asked for a copy of the receipt. Since I was no longer in a relationship with the person who gave it to me, and because she had moved away without sending me her new address, I wasn't able to supply a receipt. I asked if I gave them the serial number whether they could then tell me the retailer it was shipped to, and I could see if they could provide a receipt. Nextbase said they couldn't track it that way. I then asked about shipping back to them, and if they found that the problem wasn't a manufacturer's defect, I would pay for the repair and shipping myself. That is when I learned, they DO NOT repair their own dashcams!! I was shocked. I asked what happens if a unit stops working after the warranty runs out. All they would say is that they would look at each case and, if they felt it was warranted, they would replace it. Apparently, it is out of warranty and they don't decide to replace it at their expense, the consumer is OUT OF LUCK. You then are a proud owner of an expensive door stop....that alone is sufficient for me to never consider buying another one of their dashcams....I just wanted your readers to be aware of this.
