Best brand for recording position to GPX or similar format

I'm looking at getting a camera for timelapse recording of long drives. I would like to synchronize my images with a GPS location, to overlay an OpenStreetMap render on each frame. Which brands offer raw GPS log data that I can parse on my own? I am not looking to get locked into a Windows application, as I run Linux.

some Ambarella based cameras log the GPS data as a separate file rather than embedding it within the video file which would be easier from a data handling perspective, not aware of any that also support timelapse recording though

I think you will be better off with a GPS logger, and a camera on the side, though then syncing the 2 up might be a issue.
