Hello all. Searched but saw nothing current. Really appreciate the recommendations I got previously for my commercial highway truck. Viofo A229 pro has been fantastic. Saved my butt when a Porsche Cayenne blew a red light in a one lane construction zone and drove right into the front of me when I had the right of way. I was able to come to a complete stop in an 80000 pound vehicle, and Mr. Porsche insisted on hitting me head on. Crazy.

Wife and I bought new BMW adventure bikes this year, and I would feel better if we had good cameras.

Looking for the best. Not on a budget. Thanks!

Not many decent motorcycle dashcams about, Viofo still has its MT1, which is quite a good camera, but only FHD resolution:

And there is Innovv, who have some more modern cameras, but none of them are Starvis 2, so really are just as outdated as the Viofo:

I would avoid the 4K Innovv, the sensor is not very sensitive, quite good in sunshine, but you are probably better off with a 2K sensor, in fact the Viofo probably has the best sensor, if you don't mind FHD resolution. If you want to make 4K holiday videos, then use a GoPro, or better still a DJI. For dashcam use, 4K is not really needed, although if someone made a Starvis 2 4K motorcycle camera, that would be very nice!

Porsches have good brakes, but on a single stop, the laws of physics ensure they can't actually stop much faster than any other properly serviced car! Their drivers don't always understand that! Plus, if they have the expensive brake option fitted, then they don't work properly until after you warm them up!

Any comment on Thinkware M1. Has Starvis 2.

I see older reviews for this model, that could not possibly have been Starvis 2 at the time, so I am skeptical.

Consider two single channel cams as an option.

I've not encountered it, but I think it is rather ancient technology - supplied with 32GB memory card and will support a 64GB memory card, and it is of the age when Thinkware cameras required Thinkware memory cards.

EIS image stabilisation on a FHD sensor doesn't make much sense, the image detail will be really low. Image stabilisation is not required, or wanted for dasham use, as long as you have it mounted solidly to the bike frame, and you do want it solidly mounted. If you are using a GoPro type camera then you do want image stabilisation, but for regular use, where you don't want to need to charge the batteries and mount the camera before every ride, you want a dashcam, not a GoPro.

Thanks. Definitely staying away from this one.

I'm aware of Vantrue having a motor bike dash cam called the Falcon 1.

I haven't used it just including it as another option.

It has a front 4K sensor and HD rear camera (1080)

The front sensor is a Starvis sensor. I don't think it's a 2 though.

Their demonstration video was fun to watch lol. It actually has information that's helpful.

The Vantrue Falcon 1 has a screw down door that keeps the memory card in the unit, in the event there is an accident. That is a plus. If you buy a dashcam that does not have this feature, wrapping a low-tack cloth tape over the memory slot and around the body will keep the memory card in the unit.

Bike season coming up. Anything new that I should know about?
