The video shows clearly that a large church sign is unreadable. This reviews on this camera says you can read stop signs clearly. If it can’t read a large church sign it’s not doing it’s job. If it’s pixelating badly it’s not doing it’s job. Im not saying it’s a bad product, I’m saying I need a good one.
I don't think it was designed for reading church signs, they don't have many churches in China!

As an accident camera it does a decent job, as a cheap accident camera it does a very good job. That church sign wasn't going to cause an accident, it wasn't even on the road.

You will find that if you get away from the trees with their millions of leaves that all need recording, then the pixilation will reduce considerably or even disappear. Under trees all dashcams can show pixilation, however good or expensive.

If you want it to do something else then state your requirements and people will give advice, otherwise the advice is that it is working as expected and it is one of the better dashcams for reading signs/plates, although with the tiny plates you have on US cars it will struggle unless they are very close. The pixilation is normal and generally doesn't affect it's effectiveness as an accident camera, other than to increase the storage capacity which is a benefit and reduce power consumption which can also be an advantage.

Pixilation maybe a little less noticeable with the firmware update, but don't expect it to disappear completely.

Here are the first two photos taken with this camera. Please let me know when you find something in focus in the pictures. There is nothing in focus and that is in a parking lot

There where 2 stop signs in that video and each was clearly readable. That church sign may be big, but the lettering is not. Using Replay, I could pause/zoom and read the sign "Bible Study Wednesday 7PM Sunday 930AM". Not sure about the 930 part, but still pretty good for a $50 camera.

Those have been uploaded at low resolution with a lot of jpg compression, need some high quality originals before commenting on the focus.

Ok well I can see nothing will sway your opinion. I have had a dash cam for two years and I know what they will do. If the seller suggested a firmware upgrade then something is wrong that needs to be fixed I don’t want a product out of the box that need fixing. Thanks for your opinion.

be fair, how can he create an opinion based on those scaled down pictures, full frame screen shots are needed to be able to offer any judgement

what was your previous camera?
Why are you in judgment of me? Do you think I would pay for a dash cam, wait for it to be delivered, read the entire manual twice and install it according to the instructions only to hope that it would work as described? Then post all the order information on a public forum and post the video and photos just to have people sit in judgment of me? Surely you jest?

I looked at the screenshots you posted and asked people to comment on the focus, they are two small to offer any detail, around here people will gladly tell you if your product isn't good but they can't offer any feedback based on those low res pictures, you've seen the originals obviously but looking at those small screenshots is impossible to judge focus

Those photos and videos are directly from the SD card loaded onto Google Direct. The video is over 267 Mbs and took 30 minutes to download. The pictures are from the same SD card. I went to Computer then the E: mass storage and loaded directly from that SDCard. If it’s not clear it’s because it’s not clear!

I was an IT specialist for Dell Computers in 2004. I think I might know a little bit about a computer

the screenshots you uploaded are 639 x 442, not 1920 x 1080, need to see full frame screen shots if you want to get feedback on the focus

Rick - are these photos taken by the camera/app or screenshots from video? And isbthe engine of your vehicle running or turned off?
These are directly from the SDCard in the camera. They are not screen shots. I downloaded them directly from the SDCard

open the video with something like VLC, stop playback wherever you like, use the take a snapshot option to capture a full frame screenshot, upload that

Rick, are they photos to mark the start of each video with the same file numbers?

Also if you have time try taking a photo using the app. That will save the photo on your card at maximum resolution.
