Cable extension

I've been running an A118c rear camera with a 5m USB cable connected to the cigarette lighter socket with no issues.
I've now relocated the power supply with a hardwire and timer supply which has meant I need an extra 1m of cable. I've used an extension cable and although this does work, I'm getting slight screen flicker which indicates a power drop.
Hopefully a better quality cable will help, is it best to go for USB 3?

The USB 3 spec is significantly better than the USB 2 spec, however it is better to buy based on conductor thickness, the lower the AWG figure the better and the lower AWG USB 2 cables tend to be designed for charging purposes while a USB 3 cable will be designed as a multi purpose cable.
