Hi all,

Just purchased this for delivery tomorrow....
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/B07V97GNGN....and wondered if I could pick some brains here!

Am I correct in thinking that the Neo6 output cable supplied consists of three wires (yellow, red and black) that are simply spliced into the same coloured three wires of the Thinkware F770 (Battery+, Acc and Ground)?
Does the existing ground of the F770 installation remain connected to a bolt near the fuse box? Or does the the grounding get 'picked up' or shared from the hardwired power connection of the input cable of the Cellink?
.....in other words do I literally unplug the piggy back fuse of the dash cam from the fuse box, replace the original car fuse (obviously) minus the piggy back, then splice the six wires together without the ground wire being bolted down?

I'm all fine with the power input on the Neo6 side of things.

....and finally do I need to alter any settings in the 'Parking Mode' of the dash cam (currently set to motion detection and 12 hours shut down or highest voltage setting drop whichever comes first)?

Reason I'm doing this guys is, despite what 'Thinkware' claim, I've noticed a definite reluctance lately of my car to enter 'Start & Stop' mode (which I know is dependent on a few other variables i.e. engine temperature etc.)
I think the battery is recovering for a while from the drain placed on it from the dash cam overnight.

Many thank you's for any help or advice!

Bob

Can't comment on the output wires as i have never seen one of these although i suspect you are correct. However you can turn the timer to 48hrs and put it on it's lowest voltage setting to increase parking recording as much as possible.

"Reason I'm doing this guys is, despite what 'Thinkware' claim "

Can i just ask a bit more about this statement please? It's well known what you are describing and you are exactly right. A vehicle battery usually has to be around 85% charged for Stop/Start to work so it will be replenishing what the Camera has used whilst parked. This takes longer in the colder / darker months of the year as we tend to have headlights, fan blowers & heated rear screens on more so the battery gets less. Has someone denied this? If so we need to find out who!

Of course maddog1974....I'm not saying I read a statement saying 'our dash cam will never deplete your battery in any way shape of form'.......I'm saying that despite the marketing hype alluding to 'forget about it!...you never have to worry about your battery'

e.g. "PREVENT VEHICLE BATTERY DRAIN - State-of-the-art parking mode monitoring system via the G sensor. The F770 dash cam continuously monitors the health and status of the vehicle battery and will shut down if it detects any issues without the need to purchase additional power magic adaptors."

The 'Start/Stop' function being delayed considerably on my car is certainly cause for concern for me.

(trust me, I wouldn't being spending precious dosh on expensive battery technology if not)

I know it's all hype and I should know better by now! For example another.... "ULTRA CLEAR 1080p HD IMAGE - Front and Rear Crisp Clean image with a 140° wide angle view at 30FPS. This enables the Dash Cams to capture more detailed footage in all road conditions and capture number plates of other drivers."

The video quality I'm seeing on playback is no better (if not worse) than the cheap no name Chinese dash cam I had before. 'Ultra Clear'? nope, and reading number plates is a black art of manipulating the pause/play button!

I wouldn't repeat the purchase again :(

Bob

OK i'm glad no one told you if wouldn't affect Stop / Start - The statement above is relating to a Flat battery.

As of the video quality i'm surprised we get a lot more compliments than complaints. I will message you shortly though with a suggestion....

Thank you very much for the suggestion Maddog1974......my faith is slowly being restored! :)

Well, an update (if anyone's interested?) -

Neo6 arrived as promised (can't beat 'Amazon') and the output cable does not have three wires (to splice into the F770 wires) instead it came with the female cigarette plug socket attached to a short cable (t'other end goes into Neo6)

So not immediately compatible with my hard wired dash cam :(

Bugger!

Had to order a three wire cable (with Neo6 plug) for £29.99!!  Think my trousers have been pulled down!

Anyone going down the same route beware....check carefuly what's actually in the box.

Okay....installation finally done successfully! Very impressed with availabe park mode time once charged (very quick). Peace of mind at last!

Not without problems though. If anyone is going down the same route (Cellink Neo6 + Thinkware F770) shout up and I'll help if possible.

Hi, I'm considering this camera and battery (x 2, actually, for side view also), and parking mode is the most important feature for me. Is it truly buffered with decent motion detection, or would it be recording permanently if left in a public car park? If I can record in low bitrate mode then this isn't a huge issue, other than the life of the SD cards and possible power drain.

For 4 cameras, would I need 2 of the Neo6's?

Thanks for any help!

Hi BertUK, to the best of my knowledge (and experience) setting it to motion detect (the most popular method and how I also have it set up) I think that, unless it is a very sparsely populated car park, it'll be recording amost constantly!
I'm at the lowest sensitivity....in a remote rural area....and it almost always reports more than ten motion detection events every morning. Go figure

For four cameras plus two batteries it's gonna get expensive (unless money's no object....then fill yer boots! ;)) Otherwise I believe you're going to be seeing half of the usual parking mode time....I'm more than happy with the 20 odd hours I can get!

My set up was not trouble free! But now everything is in place I'm very pleased with how it all works. If you are going to get into this I wouldn't hesitate to recommend 'Thinkware Dash Cam' (Maddog 1974 on here) they were very good with me!

Shout up if you need any advice and let us know how you get on?

All the best
Bob

Personally i'm not a fan of motion detection as said it will give a lot of alerts as Tree's waving in the wind, leaves blowing down the road & rain dribbling down the windscreen. Along with Animals like Cats, Foxes etc. I much prefer Timelapse recording although it is only 1FPS on the F770. If you can stretch to a F800 then it's 2fps. The F800 also uses a little less power for parking mode so the Battery would record for longer too...

My concern with timelapse is that, I think, for something like a car park ding, you really need the motion (and audio, really) to prove that contact was made and it was at that moment. I think timelapse would really struggle to prove something minor and could theoretically miss something major also, or at least make it difficult to prove at a later date.

I'm definitely considering the F800 and also the U1000 now, as I have a local dealer who sells them and specialises in high-end card, so I know they will do a good job of the installation with guaranteed work. They have actually told me that if I only had 2 cams and was using the radar mode on the U1000, then I wouldn't actually need a battery unless I rarely drove the car. They've fitted the F800 in hundreds of cars and seem to know what they're talking about, but I was surprised when he said that.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah I definitely don't want to come back to the car to find 100 videos have been recorded! I'm really interested in the radar feature on the U1000 which apparently works well, but would love to see some examples of it working in the real world. I like the cloud features on the Thinkware cams but would probably only benefit from them when the car's on my drive and in range of the WiFi, which is better than nothing I suppose. I expect running a WiFi hotspot permanently in the car must draw quite a bit of power!

You could wire the acc straight to the input of the input wire

£29.99!!!! who did you find selling it for that price, the cable alone is less than £10 to make yourself including an additional cigar lighter socket.

if you dont want to make it yourself you can use your hardwire kit with the cigar cable that came with it and punch it in at a cost of £2 for a molex punching tool
