cellphone as a dashcam review

There are better options, like DailyRoads

Cell phone with the dashcam app can do the job, but not saying it can do the good job. :)

I used many apps but liked Autoboy the best.
The combination of sunlight and video recording made my phone so hot that my battery died.
I'm not sure if it's a particular app as I was using Autoguard and DailyRoads as well.
But the video quality was great compared to the crappy C600 dashcam I just got.

I'll try the new Alcatel Evolve that I got cheap so it won't break the bank even if it fries.

i tried using multiple apps but it was never convenient to use all the time, eventually laziness got the best of me and i realized i needed dedicated hardware.

That's the bottom line, you're going to regret that it's not recording at the moment of truth. It's best to have a true DashCam, set it and forget appliance recording at all times.

Having said that I still like to check out the SmartPhone section now and again.

There are two purposes for using Dashcam,
  1. Recording your journey for fun and share,
  2. Working as insurance to protect you in case and in need.
If for first, you can try any APP with your phone and enjoy it.
If for second, you need to a reliable dashcam to set it and forget it.
