CF-100 GPS - Dedicated or Generic?

Just curious if any knowledgeable person would know if the CF-100 requires the dedicated GPS Blacksys GPS module or if a generic GPS module (plenty on eBay and Amazon) would work?

probably requires the actual blacksys unit. it's very small, and has a 4-pin 3.5mm connector, though it only uses 3 of the 4 conductors. the 4th one is used for video out.

also, there's no such thing as "generic" gps. each one uses a different chipset, and they don't all use the same protocols to talk to the host device.
