Changing modes on Git 2

Since finalcam is temporary, and Techmoan's review of Git 2 with fw 1.2 indicated that he couldn't use final cam to change modes on the cam, is it true that presently I would only be able to change the mode on the cam?

you can also use the wireless remote, or use FN cam by fusion next. i think there's a link to that in another thread here that focuses on accessories, cases, software, apps. can't remember the exact name of the thread but it's in this git2 forum. i never got finalcam to work at all, but i think it was the rom i was running (cyanogenmod) on my phone. i've recently got a new phone though (galaxy note 3) and i'm sticking with the stock rom for now - maybe it'll work now...
