Converting to English Firmware

1. GPS will work if he honors what it needs to do: http://car-dvr.info/forum/index.php?topic=257.0
2. This pixelation that occurs often when driving past the trees and vegetation. Because of the low bit rate specified by the manufacturer. This problem is at all.

Have you read through the thread titled "BlackVue Wi-Fi 2-Channel DR550GW-2CH" the answer is likely to be in there and its not just a matter of downloading and it will work. Look here for instructions http://car-dvr.info/forum/index.php?topic=257.25

Worked GREAT. here's what I did in my own words incase others are a bit confused about the other steps.

1. go here and download the English 1.005E original firmware http://www.soltechsecurity.com/P/D/186/ ... t-in-Wi-Fi
2. Format an SD card in Fat32 format
3. Double click .exe file in the zip file in the downloaded file from Step 1. and install it onto the card following prompts
4. Put SD Card in the camera and wait for a couple of minutes, It will say "version information is different"
5. Now turn camera off and take SD card out and put it in computer
6. Go to the config folder and in the "version.bin" file change the Words in both places from "English" to "Korea" NOT Korean
7. Put SD card back in the camera, power it up and it will upgrade then say "Version information is different" again
8. Turn off camera again and take the SD card out and put in computer
9. Go to the config folder again and in the "version.bin" file change the Words in both places from "Korea" to "English"
10. Put SD card back in the camera, power it up, it will upgrade then restart and that's it, you have English voices from then on.

Thanks to Mio and Hillbilly and the others who have helped work this out. Works great.

Hi friends! I've got a problem about this issue. I can't connect to the Blackvue DR550GW-2CH Korean camera via putty.exe,
What I did?
1-The camera firmware is 1.019K, I downloaded the 1.014E mod001 folder and copy to the sd card.
2-Put into the camera the SD Card,
3-Opened Wi-Fi and saw the IP is 192.168.8.1, tried to connect by laptop computer, but when I click to Connect button, the program gives error message: "network error connection refused", so I couldn't connect to the camera for updating. (I run the putty as an administrator)
4- What should I do for be able to connect to the camera via putty.exe, and if I can connect camera, and update from 1.014E owerwrite to 1.019K, if I can't owerwrite 1.019K version by 1.014E version, where can I find 1.019E version firmware's mod001 folder, CAN ANYBODY HELP ME? Thanx for all.

Question for anyone who can help...

I received my DR500 today and noticed the voice prompts were in an Asian voice which I presume is Korean. I did manage to get the device connected to my iPhone wirelessly. But, while doing searches online on why the prompts were in Korean, I came across this thread. I ordered my camera via Amazon. Doing these searches, I learned that some Korean sellers on sites like Amazon are not authorized sellers and have been selling these Korean versions to us westerners.

Anywho, I've read through these threads and see there was a possible way to get my camera to English. Of course, these threads are a couple years old and not sure if this is still a possibility for me.

Question:

These are the versions on my camera:

[firmware]
version = 2.004
model = 500GW
language = Korea
[software]
version = 2.38
model = 500GW
language = Korea
[config]
version = 1.060
model = 500GW

Can I still use the method described at the beginning of this thread to get my camera to English? Or, is there a more recent way to accomplish this?

Thanks in advance for any help.

V-
