Could Be My First Vantrue Dash Cam

Will be testing fuses for permanent live feed. Turn Hazard lights is the one Im more likely to use.

Currently using Cabin Lights fuse which i believe loses live feed after certain time.

Does shaking the car enables Collision Detection? If yes, its not working for me.

And then if I tap on camera it enables Collision Detection.

Parking Mode monitoring is set to Auto with Collision Detections at 2 plus quick start mode.

Please advise.
 
In theory, collision detection is triggered by an 'impact' to your car. Sometimes a test impact such as shaking a car or closing a door will do it, other times it will not. Some dashcams are more sensitive than others, and most will fail to pick up things like keying a car door or other types of scratches.

On the S1 Pro Max I preferred using low bitrate recording because it was continuous and does not rely on motion or collision detection. It also records everything prior to an impact, which can be useful to provide context to what happened.

I am avoiding the low bitrate option until I have battery pack in place. The 70mai battery pack appears to be a decent choice after browsing the forum. I have contacted their support to request a substantial discount code for that unit.

Plate Pix for me doesn’t work without HDR? Unless its working just the stamp is not showing on the videos?

I believe the firmware has changed since I posted that. PlatePix might now need HDR to be enabled. @Jeff_Vantrue can you confirm?

Yes, you’re right. With the latest firmware, PlatePix requires HDR to be enabled in order to work properly. Please turn on HDR to use the PlatePix feature.

Unfortunately, I’m afraid this will be the case for all future firmware versions.

However, you can still use HDR independently. It’s just that PlatePix cannot work independently without HDR being enabled.

I've had multiple dashcams over the years and I have to say, this is my absolute favorite. My first was a "PAPAGO"... good luck reading license plates with that one (which died), my most expensive one was a BlackVue which is still in my car.. ignored because it's a pain to use without a screen and their APP sucks. This one is easy to use, had a nice sized screen and has the most important thing... at least to me, good video... which is what it's all about.
 
I now have an LTE module installed, thanks to a member here.

Setup remains incomplete because I am still waiting for my SIM card to arrive.

I also spoke with Vantrue customer service about the ordering and shipping charges I encountered last month; they confirmed a system error and noted that shipping should have been free. By the time they responded, the offer had expired, leaving me no choice but to keep my Amazon order.

Fortunately, they provided a partial refund on my Amazon orders for the inconvenience. It is not as good as the discounted deal they had offered, but something is better than nothing. A big thank you goes to Angel and Likki.

You definitely cannot go wrong with the S1Pro Max. Image quality, ease of use, form factor, reliability.
For a battery pack, when you are ready, I'd at least take a look at the Viofo BP100, it's got great bang for the buck.

I have had mine for several months now and am really impressed with the quality, it did take a while to get the settings spot on for my situation but got there in the end. Great camera and good choice.
What are the differences with using the LTE?
My only grip is that every time I want to view via my phone, and the Vantrue app, the camera memories I have to uninstall my car wifi from my phone in order to log into Vantrue system, does anybody know is there anyway around this issue?
 
@AnthonyH Just turn this toggle off when you want to access the dashcam when you in car. Then turn it on when you done. No need to remove car wifi.
