New thing today. I don't know which areas are using this rule. If you want to eat at a restaurant you have to reserve. Then you have to give name, address, mobile number and DNI (Spanish national ID number). Of all who are in the group.
"They" say that all restaurants comply with the Spanish and EU privacy laws when storing the data. I know that is impossible as there has not been enough time for the buinesses to set up the protocols. It took me some time to do. And we all know that Covid makes things longer to implement.

They posted a new high resolution map yesterday, until now they have filtered by municipalities, filtering by smaller church parishes and things look all together better.

Might be easy to comply with that since it is only name/address/id that is being stored, and I don't think you need to do much paperwork to be able to store an address list, it is only when you start storing personal information that things start to take time.

Interesting new study on cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT):
So not much difference in the risk of CVT between mRNA and AZ vaccines:
  • In over 480,000 people receiving a COVID-19 mRNA vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna), CVT occurred in 4 in a million.
  • CVT has been reported to occur in about 5 in a million people after first dose of the AZ-Oxford COVID-19 vaccine.

But, for PVT, which is almost as deadly and far more common:
We repeated the above analyses for PVT...

After COVID-19: 436.4 per million people.
After influenza: 98.4 per million people.
After receiving an mRNA vaccine: 44.9 per million people.
After receiving the Astrazeneca vaccine: 1.6 per million people.

From that data, it might be much safer to go for the AZ!

In the FWIW news, my niece who pooh-poohed the risks of Covid and thought it was being blown out of proportion by the press is now doing an in-home quarantine for a family member who tested positive. Nothing serious but now her and her friends are believers and not by choice. Her brother who lives elsewhere is going to have some serious thinking to do as he didn't believe it was real- I wonder if that will change now?

Things are still under control here in Vermont but there has been a spike in cases and it appears that the surge in cases is mostly among 20 something year olds who haven't taken the risks seriously.

sadly what happens when they follow the 'science' on Facebook and the like where it's all some government conspiracy or whatever

That's what I'm hearing here. Niece is 30 and the oldest in her house.

Some people have gotten covid and had extremely mild symptoms. Others are not so lucky. Many have believed the virus is real but the govenment response to the virus was excessive. I thought most people believed the virus was real whether they thought it was deadly or not.

I think part of the problem is the responses have varied from excessive to inadequate, mixed messages never help, to be fair it's new ground for most so knowing what to do and when to do it amongst a sea of changing information/misinformation has to be challenging

It's kind of fun to watch when opinion/bias runs head on into reality.

This seems to be the problem in a lot of countries. The young have been told they won't get seriously ill so they break the rules, party and rave, catch it asymptomatically and their selfish acts pass it on to older contacts who need hospitalisation and may die.

In London UK there are 3 mainly immigrant boroughs where the vaccination rate is only 30%, the lowest in the country, because they believe social media over doctors.

While in the South West 68% of adults have had at least 1 jab, and 62% for England on average. Those Londoners may learn their lesson soon, or the rest of the country will have to build a wall around them with a quarantine period to get out!

You're quite right. I guess, younger people feel invulnerable, plus they've been told that COVID is far less deadly for them. So, last year in the UK we saw Quarantine Raves and clandestine Airbnb parties. In the US we had thousands of college students descending on Florida's beaches for Spring break, egged on by Governor Ron DeSantis who has ignored citizen's safety concerns in favor of political expediency. Much of the current spike in Vermont seems to be among college students from out of state who have been ignoring the mandates and guidelines that have been in place all year that have up until now led to Vermont having among the lowest infection rates and fatalities in the country.

If only the kids was aware that yes they might not get that ill, BUT ! you can give it to someone that can and will get very ill.
But the latter part seem to get ignored.
Everyone not in the segment that currently have political power here, push for more openings here and faster.
But the socialists do their best to nurse the Danes to the best of their abilities, my problem is i do not want to get nurses unless i ask for it, so my brain lock up so bad so often.

There is a frighting news story here about a 79 year old lady, that never gotten a dime in pension as she wouldn't have that as she can take care of her self.
And so society have saved millions in pension to her, but now some property tax of 700 USD or something have suddenly dropped out of the sky, and it must be paid or the old lady will be out of her very little house and the garden that feed her and allow her to make a living on her own.

BUT ! the pension that i would argue are owed to her even if she refused to take it for decades, well she will never see a dime of that, but she can get a pension if she conform to the guidelines of Danish society.
The guidelines pretty much being take the money we have stolen from other citizens, and be damn grateful you get them

I am so embarresed over that whole situation, that my country, the best little country in the world are not able to deal with this situation in a honorable and distinguished way.

Similar here in Michigan. Majority of the new infections/positive tests are in the 20-49 group with a big spike in the teen group as well. What's really sad, and maddening, is when those people are questioned by the media about the possibility of spreading the virus to others an extremely disappointing number responded along the lines of "Not my problem". Makes you want to hit them between the eyes with a 2x4 just to get there attention.

I know, and It is infuriating! One story here revolved around a senior high school hockey match earlier this winter that led to an outbreak that affected over 60 people in a small city here. It turned out that the infections had nothing to do with the game itself which was held responsibly but with the socializing afterwards when the players and friends got together for pizza and snacks. Everybody then went home and infected their relatives.

The good part was how rapid and effective our state officials were in contact tracing and monitoring which contained the outbreak and prevented it from spreading.

I've gotta' say, our Governor, Phil Scott and his team have done an extraordinary job in their handling of the pandemic from the very beginning; calm, rational, nimble, transparent, flexible, always adhering to the science, the facts, the statistics and 100% free of politics. The result has been that most everyone with few exceptions has gone along with the guidelines, mask mandates including the initial lock down period without the division and rancor seen in many other states and this has clearly paid off in lower infection rates and mortalities. The state is now set to completely reopen by July 4th when there will be a transition in guidelines from restrictions to "recommendations" assuming all goes well with the staged plan and the understanding that this may have to change if things don't go so well.

What seems to be developing is that with some of these new variants younger adults and children are suffering and there has been a few deaths.

When will they learn.

Unfortunately, they will never learn, but it never happens to them they will tell you. They do not seem to take any notice of social distancing.

I am glad my wife and I have now had our second Pfizer jab.
