I remember seeing that movie on a rented VCR tape at a friend's house party 
Gotta remember that the Simonova was essentially a late 40's design, and mil-spec ammo had harder primers to mitigate the danger, so used as designed it's not really a problem. And Mythbusters were known to 'doctor' things to get the results they wanted. Good entertainment but not necessarily accurate results from their tests.
