I was wondering what file format (Codec) the CR500HD uses I can open in Windows video editor but not Adobe or Studio Pro

Not sure if it answers your question but the format is .avi
You could try the K-Lite codec pack? I think most people convert their files when having trouble importing into video editing software.
Not always the best solution as quality will decrease when you convert..
