I purchased a ddpai x2 pro
https://www.amazon.com/gp/B072F7LBXM
I also purchased a hardwire fuse kit
https://www.amazon.com/gp/B01N0GR4ON
The camera powers on perfectly when plugged into this micro usb cable or to the cigarette lighter adapter that came with the dash cam.

For some reason when I try to power the dash cam from any power bank that outputs 0-2.1 amps at 5v it will not power it on even though its the same current the hardwire fuse kit is outputting. furthermore when i plugged the micro usb cable of the fusekit into the powerbank input port to charge it and see if that works it made a spark and smoke came out (not sure why if the input power is up to 2.1 amps as well.

powerbank used

If someone can please explain to me what I am missing from this puzzle I will really appreciate it.

Its a 12v camera not 5v, dont let the USB plug fool you.

That does not explain why it worked with the 5v hardwire fusekit and why the 5v hardwire fusekit burned out the powerbank

What would explain that is the hardwire kit is outputting 12v, thats why it works with the camera and why it blew up your powerbank.

I dont even see how that hardwire kit would work, its the wrong plug. Looking at this photo, it looks like the DDPAI uses a USB Micro connector for 12v power to the main unit and it has a USB Mini jack next to it to power the rear camera (Only the rear cam is 5v).
