Dash Cam Video and Photo of Car with Lic, So what?

I was involved in an incident in which a car, with intent, while traveling at about 30 mph struck the rear of my car. After impact the driver just drove off at high speed. (Note: He intentially the back of my car. This constitutes Hit and Run, period. This type of activity is classified as Vehicular assault, a felony.
We waited for about 90 minutes for the police to arrived to take a police report. While taking the report, they did take the photo of the Car and Lic I provided that hit me. They were not interested in the Dash Cam video. Due to time that had elasped, there was no reason to look for the driver or car. The officer told me to just let my insurance company take care of it. The major reason for their lack of interest was no one was injured.
The reality of this incident indicates two possible courses of action:
1. Criminal proceeding - Not going to happen due to the lack of injuries,
2. Civil suite for damages - not cost effective. That's what I have insc for. Dealing with someone who exhibits this kind of road rage is dangerous.
Now in analyzing the situation, I find a couple of things of note.
One is that as always happens, Mr. Murphy got involved. How you ask? The incident was captured by the dash cam but was split due to the camera capture configuration.
Two, Only the rear camera was able to capture the impact, but with limited effectiveness due it's field of view due and the location of the impact on the Driver's side rear quarter panel.

My take away, is that I was lucky. This nut case could have had a gun. Yes he got away with it and should not be driving.
Had anyone one been injured, the video would have proven who did what and that's what I installed it for.
As always you can't win em all.

Justice is a damn thing to get by, not least when it is served by your ( some public branch )

Right now in Denmark, with a police force severely gimped by stupid politicians, and shortage of staff there too, it is common practice to just " wash " cases like its called here, this mean do what ever you can do to get the case dismissed / thrown away.
This even go for iron clad cases where all the evidence is right there,,,,,,, throw it away,,,,, we are sorry.
It is pretty much the de facto MO of 10 or our 12 Police precincts here, and the last 2 precincts probably no one squealing there, though of course the brass ´know nothing of this behaviour,,,,,, though it is them that set it in motion as they have quotas to fill or,,,,,,, nothing happen CUZ no gooberment branch never attacked another gooberment branch, at best just a little mud throwing.

Ill be damned what people here tell them self when they go voting, i have not done so for 3 decades CUZ there is no one for me to vote on sadly, our democracy is very sick too like it is everywhere in the world.
And Danes being the #2 most happy people in the world,,,,,, that must be due to excessive intake of something, we do like our state approved drugs, and even more so the illegal ones, this cost the state more every year than American and British hedge funds steal from the Danish tax authorities in a good ( for them ) year.

Well, at least it should make your insurance claim easy, and your insurance company can go after the the right person, which will increase his insurance payments - he will pay for it.

It is up to the police if they want to enforce the law or not, your job is to report it, and nothing more.

I know some places at least in the US they have crash scene investigators, but i assume like here in Denmark they only come into play when really big stuff happen.

Police here have no say, if its a minor fender bender they will not even come, you are supposed to get your car off to the side so traffic can flow again, only if a car is incapacitated and blocking traffic and need tow will they come, and most times just stand with hands in pockets and look as their car with lights on warn people.

I just submit video to insurance, it is their job to duke it out in court or among them self if there is any doubt as to who is to blame, police dont really have a say here.

Send the video file, with license plate info, to your insurance company. They can go after the other person's insurance so you don't have to pay your deductible. Hopefully after that some is able to go after the other person for the hit and run.

Make sure you send at least 5 minutes before the incident too, to avoid them saying you incited it.
