Dashcam only records ~20% of the time (Resolved)

Hello,

A friend bought a $75, 4K dashcam from a retailer on Aliexpress. The model name is OBDPEAK M63s

Unfortunately while the recording quality is good, it has a serious flaw in that there is a substantial time gap between subsequent recordings, sometimes around 1 min. Each video clip contains about 10-15 secs of video. So basically the camera only records about 20% of the time and the rest isn't recorded.

We tried contacting the retailer but they weren't able to resolve the problem. We'renot sure if we got a defective unit or the design is just bad.

Any suggestions on what we can do about this?

try a different memory card

make sure if it has motion detect option that it is turned off

Thanks jokiin. The problem was a faulty microSD card. When it was replaced with a new one, the recording is back to normal now

Most dashcam issues, the first order of troubleshooting should always be the memory card.
try another one ( if possible )
test / verify the one you have ( using H2testw and / or crystaldiskmark test software )

This even go if your memory card is brand new and the best - most expensive brand / model in your country and it was hand delivered to you by the company boss.

If that do not do it, then we need to take a look at the camera itself - how it is powered and so on.
