Are there any non-commercial dashcams out there that track location and store the history, kinda like MileIQ functionality. I have to drive for work and sometimes forget to take a pic of my odometer to remind me I am traveling for work. I don't want to use an app on my phone because I don't want the additional battery drain. Even if there is a small monthly fee, it would pay for itself from the trips lost from me being forgetful.

From the little bit of research I have done, it seems the GPS is more for location at the time of an accident/event and also handy for time sync.

Welcome to the forum mccollums.

You are right the dashcams GPS are mainly to show speed and plot your drive on a map, using one of the dedicated dashcam player softwares.
But i am not using those myself so i am not sure if that software could give a distance driven output and save the route in some useable format

The popular dashcam player software's now are dashcam viewer. https://dashcamviewer.com/ you might want to hit the maker John up, he is a really nice guy and he will be able to tell if his software are something for you.
The demo of it is fully functional, but can only handle a couple of files at the time.

The other program is called DVPlayer. https://dvplayer.net/

These players do not support any and all dashcams, but many are supported and both are willing to add support for more models.
