I found this explanation in the user manual of the DDPai Mini ONE. I can confirm the Mola N3 behaves similarly based on these priorities:
This concludes my parking mode testing of the Mola N3 until I have found something else outside of this pattern.
- Battery voltage has not dropped below the cut-off setting (12.4v, 12.0v, 11.8v).
- G-sensor if enabled, is always active until condition 1) has been breached.
If condition 3) is active, it will take a snapshot and record normal video for 2 minutes after the G-sensor event and continue with 3). If condition 3) is inactive, it will wake the camera and start recording normal videos for 2 minutes and starts action 3). It takes 2-3 seconds to wake the camera up.- Time lapse/full motion parking recording if enabled, will try to run for as long as you've set the timer for (15m, 1h, 6h, 24h 48h) or until condition 1) has been breached.

On a side note, I've ordered a Mini ONE (for a friend) and will hopefully get to test it out a bit and compare with the Mola N3 before installing it permanently in her car. I've also ordered a Mola A2 (or in China market sold as 9 Eagles A2) from DDPai's Aliexpress official store because it was $32 and has integrated power management. All their parking modes behave in the same way described above, so it's more of an image quality comparison.
wow! That is a HUGE heat spreader! Some further info. Based on FCC internal photos of the Mola N3, the main SOC is HiSilicon Hi3556 V200. Nice big heat-spreader and supercapacitor has a connector for easy removal.

Based on the SOC datasheet, this chip has 2x 900MHz Cortex A7 CPUs, built on 28nm process and has embedded 1Gb (128 MB) DDR3L RAM. Hardware encoding for H.265 and H.264 is present, as is lens distortion correction.
I also installed firmware 7.0.1.13 instead of 7.0.0.7, the ability to track the track was lost. The firmware was downloaded from the site ddpai.com, there was no division by version !!Overall, I think it is better to keep the export firmware. The key benefit of having the GPS mount is now gone. Also, I'm not able to find the export firmware for download as to flash it back so it looks like I'm stuck for now.
