- 10 years, many dashcams
Yeah as i said further up i dont use these features of the dashcam, so Pier28 is for sure the best person to listen to.
I would allso just record all the time, driving or when you have stopped for a while.
And if your car have been dented while parket there is a good chance you will see that before the camera start to delete those files to make room for new footage.
Allso as said up above some where these features only work if there is power to the camera, there is no power source inside to assist in other things but shutting down the camera the right way.
For recording while driving i use the supplied 12 -> 5 Volt power supply, and if i feel a need to record while my car is parked i would just plug in my 6000 mah USB power bank which should be good for many houres of recording while parked.
Some time later i will do a proper install ( hardwire ) with a Battery Discharge Protector, but for now i dont use recording while parked. ( but i do have a 1080p surveillance camera aimed at my car where it is parked at home )
Regarding my motion detect experiment, i think becuz it take 3 minutes for the camera to go into stand by mode is becuz i use 3 minutes for file size.
Perhaps if you use the optional 5 minute file size it will be 5 minutes before camera go into stand by mode, but no matter what the camera is still recording normal during that transition time, so you will not miss out on anything.
There is some dashcams that can do 720p at 60 FPS, but only while its light/ daytime, the way dashcams and action cams deal with recording in low light is to increase the exposure time for each frame of the footage, even top of the line Gopro cameras have to do this as current CMOS chips are not light sensetive enuff to capture 60 FPS or more in low light.
720p is no longer considered good enuff, the only thing that count for enthusiasts is 1080p or larger, the SG dashcam SG9665GC only do 1080p, 720p isent even a option in the menu.
Both the panoramas and Street Guardians is some of the best dashcams, and if you shop those brands via pier28 or any other US dealer you can be dead sure to get excellent after sale service and support.
