Hey guys,

Heard from Pittasoft / Blackvue directly and that with BlackvueShop now being Sole Distributor in the UK, they will be dealing with all the replacement cables for all cameras purchased within the UK regardless of where you initially purchased from.

For obvious reason this only counts for cameras purchased within the UK and not imports from any other country. All cameras purchased outside the UK or imported will be handled by the appropriate sole distributor of that country.

All you need to do to get yours is head over to the Sole Distributors forum, register and send over your information that is required via the thread in the link below.

I think all will agree that this is a good step forward and one of the reasons why having a sole distributor is needed.

Cheers,

Tim

Cables look like they are free of charge and you only have to pay for postage which seems fair.

I assume your tests were successful?

I also assume that an ebay purchased unit will not qualify? (even though their sole distribution announcement happened after purchase?!)

Well I just got my new cable today. I will fit it tomorrow and test it out with my Standard radio, and see if the interference has changed, it looks very much like the old cable. but we will have to see. It will be nice to be able to listen to the radio again without silly brown coax or an aerial stuck under my dashboard.

Looking forward to the news .......

Tim do you have any news on your testing ??

Peter Wilson: Sorry to revive a fairly old thread but I am STILL trying to get this DAB setup working and short of now raising a credit card claim against the seller, I was hoping you could advise?
Reason I ask is the seller who you bought your 550 from is the same seller as where I got mine from - however in my case, it was found that he cannot get a cable for me based on my serial because he since found out the units he sold (and this is all 550s) were not UK but more EU (French in my case)

However based on your comment earlier, it seems you managed to get one? Cheers

Sounds like your only option is to buy one have you contacted Blakvue UK ?? they may have stock that they can sell you might be easier than a credit card claim.

Hope you get sorted.

I bought mine on ebay, contacted the seller, and was amazed that they sent me the new cable - I didn't even hand over the serial number :D

I went from mail 2 mail with BVUK and they refused to help to the point the company I work for (freight/cargo) held back on an extremely large order from them to kit out their trucks with BV cams but the after-service was far too shocking to carry on with the purchase.

So it's a case of principle really that in theory it should not cost me anything if I did go via the claim but let' s see how things go.

tbh, given all the feedback on here - I probably wouldn't have bulk-bought from BV anyway... I wouldn't have bought from BV at all!

Completely understand that now :- )
The one thing I learnt working here is it can be extremely backwards -
For instance : a laptop could be £500 from Amazon or £800 from an "approved supplier". They would rather spend the extra and go via the supplier as they would have a credit account with them.
So basically buy now, pay later thus earning interest in the bank until required to pay.

Same thing with the cams - they wanted to go via BV to buy in bulk despite probably being able to get it cheaper and maybe even better devices. AFter my exp. we ended up going to a third party company who specialise in HGV type cameras. Crazy world we live in
