Driving mode and parking mode file management

Never had a dash cam before and thinking of buying one. I was wondering if dash cams segregate files recorded while in different modes? My understanding is that most dash cams record short (e.g 1 min) clips and either you can flag them manually or they will flag them if it thinks there has been a collision etc. It continues to record these clips until the memory card is full - when this happens it will start overwriting any files that you have not flagged. So I am wondering if the dash cam is in parking mode will it only overwrite other parking mode videos or does it just overwrite the oldest non-protected file? and vice versa for standard driving modes will it only overwrite other driving videos? Incase the answer varies camera to camera I am interested in Thinkware and BlackVue 2 channel cameras. Thanks.
