Hi Chan,

I have been using the Mini0906 for few months now and have done 3 upgrades (including this latests one) and found still that the GPS information in the log-files (and video files) are incorrect. When I check the GPS page it does show the correct lat/long as can be seen below 52.243N / 0.107E:

Photo of Sat View

But the log still shows it incorrect as 52.14N / 0.0644E:

A,050718,065352,5214.6360,N,6.4499,E,0.0,0.02,1.04,0.02;
A,050718,065353,5214.6360,N,6.4499,E,0.0,0.01,1.00,0.05;
A,050718,065354,5214.6360,N,6.4499,E,0.0,0.02,1.01,0.06;

Also after installing this firmware I again lost all the settings.

Hi all,
I'm very new to dashcams .... can someone give me a stepby step on updating my firmware
to the latest edition please. I have downloaded.....704 to my PC but what do I do next??
Thanks

Robbie

The easiest is:

1. Turn of DashCam
2. Connect Micro SD card to computer
3. Download the above zip file
4. Extract the "firmware.bin" file from the ZIP file onto the SD card
5. Insert SD card to DashCam
6. Boot up DashCam

It will flash the blue LED while flashing the new firmware.

Installing firmware usually require you to do settings again.

Thank you so much @Rayman.Chan ! Will try it out asap! The setting bug has been haunting us for so long. :) And now that I am testing the parking mode w/ the power charging kit, the new feature "auto turn off LCD in parking mode" will be very handy!

I have set the parking mode to autoswitch, but when it switches to park mode, the display stays on.

The log is correct, you are reading it wrong!

The values in the log are in degrees (first two digits) and minutes (the rest), a standard format.

Thanks for that info. It does seem to make sense. The only problem I see is the seconds. If I read it correctly it is:
Degrees: 52
Minutes: 14
Seconds: 63.60

But that wouldn't make sense since it can't be more than 60 seconds.

Also converting the log locations to decimal shows a deviation of approx 500 meters of the actual location.

Do you know which Windows player supports the mini0906 data format to show it correctly on the map?

For the GPS coordinate, my interpretation is that it is using the "DMM" format (see http://www.ubergizmo.com/how-to/read-gps-coordinates/)

And for Windows player, I use this one: http://www.rdcam.com/ver/rdCAMPlayerV1.1.1.zip

Thank you Stephan ..... I did it!!

There are no seconds!

Like I said, it is degrees and minutes, the decimal point and what is after it is part of the minutes.

"5214.6360" = 52 degrees, 14.6360 minutes.

OK Thanks. The website I used to convert it to decimal was asking for seconds, so that is why I got confused.

@Rayman.Chan

How does the auto turn-off of the screen in Parking mode work? I have disabled screen time-out, but when it goes into Parking mode, the screen stays on. Even after a while (have waited for more than 1 hour) and the screen still stays on.

‘SCREEN OFF DELAY’ 15seconds

I understand I can use the screen off delay to have it go off, but what is the purpose of the "auto turn off LCD when switch to Parking mode" feature if the screen is already turned off. I would assume this mechanism is designed to have the screen on during normal operation, and when it switches to park mode it will turn it off.
