Found this listing for the i1000/F70 model that claims to have 1080p recording. True or a lie?

This dashcam claims to have 1080p recording. Now, I know on the 720p model there is a 1080p option which I believe is just 720p upscaled. Does anyone know if the 1080p claimed in this listing is true 1080p or, again, just upscaled 720p?

mine claims to have 1080p but in actual fact when set to 1080p, it creates files that are 1280x720 with a lower bitrate than files created at the actual 720p setting, and with a smaller timestamp to make it LOOK like it's actually higher resolution. to me that sounds like they knew they couldn't do it right and were trying to fool ignorant users who don't know anything about resolution or metadata.

then again, the only difference in quality i can see between vga and 720 is that 720 is letterboxed (actually, cropped, not letterboxed). so i use 640x480 to get a taller fov and smaller files. to me it seems even 720p is a specious claim on the f70/i1000. but then i didn't expect hd performance from this cam, and for what i use it for (just recording autocross once in a while - see examples on my youtube channel), it's fine.
