Hello friendly world of DashCamTalk!

So after my last foray into the world of dash cams, my G1WH was working fine, when all of a sudden it stopped working. When I plug it into my PC it gets power, but not in my car.

Those of you who are in-the-know may have already guessed what happened. Which is that my 12v battery blew the cable so that it no longer receives power in my car. And I was told they can install a new cable if I get one that adapts it to 5v.

However, living in Canada, my options are somewhat limited in terms of buying things online. (The US Amazon does not always ship here, and I don't bother with eBay).

So far the possible adapters I have found are listed below. I am just wondering if any of you have experience with them or can say whether or not they will work with a G1WH.

Thank you in advance for your always impressive help!

Cheers.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the battery blew the cable". Were you using the dash cam with the cigarette lighter power adapter that came in the box?

The ones you linked to are hardwire kits. If that's what you want all of them should work. The first seem to have a 12v to 5v step down converter and a mini USB port so that one should be fine. This does involve adding a "add-a-fuse" and wiring it to an appropriate location into the fuse box.

I'm currently running my G1WC with a 15ft USB cable which is connected to a 3.1A USB Car Power Adapter which I got from Canadian Tire for about $5 with taxes. I got the USB cable from Amazon. Search for "Monoprice 15ft MiniUSB". Might be the setup you want.

@shiffles, only the first one is compatible, the other two have micro USB plugs.
