So this is my third ever review. (Have done Bl950 and 0803 see signature.)I'm not the most technical person around, but I keep a true passion for getting good information out there to Drivers looking for a good camera to protect themselves even more so because in the summer months I pilot a fast looking red car at the speed limit that a lot of people seem to like to pull out in front off.

It is my hope that my review along with other great users reviews (Like MTZ here) help the decision of what camera is right for you easier

You will notice a lot of similarities externally, but that is where they end. With the newer Chipset and sensor this is a welcome addition to my small DashCam collection.

The Mini 0803 has been a great camera to me, and initial tests with my 0805 have been positive. The only real downside to the 0805 for me seems to be the same that the 0803 had. The LEDs are so bright you will be giving the car behind you a light show at night. That aside the 0805 is a great camera and a nice upgrade. The Mini series has even seen more drive time then some of my more high end cameras.

As mentioned before the exterior may try to fool you, and that includes the box.

This first set of videos was shot in 1080 with HDR on.
I set it this way because it was a little bright towards the camera thought out the day
It was snowing so a lot of people had headlights on I was hoping HDR would be able to handle the light changes better. I'll try to test with the higher resolutions as well.

0803 hasn't ceased, the 0805 performs better though so more likely to be ordered by most vendors than the 0803

My mistake. I thought I read in another thread that they were going to stop production.

Perhaps someone had posted that, there's a lot of misinformation posted on these 080x series models at times
Thanks for letting me know. Corrected my original post.

It was Rayman who'd said that I think from the MEG perspective?

If the other vendors came out with a slightly different version, they can call it 0807 with extra 30$
For me, I need to know who made which..and what am I getting.

Field of Vision:135 degrees
That 135 degrees value was for 0803 and is the same as 0806. The 0805 have 120 degrees lens to avoid mount appearing in the video recordings.
But don't be afraid, 120 degrees lens is great.

I think the manufacturer of 0805 and 0806 is not producing 0803 because they need to produce the newest models and I think they are already out of stock with 0805.
And 0805 should not be more expensive than 0803 after few weeks from now.

enjoy,
Mtz

Thanks. Corrected. I was pulling the specs off of the product page so that's where I got it from.

I'm glad to have got my Christmas order in already then.

nothing is kept in stock, the manufacturer produces to order, if someone wanted to order 0803 they can get it, logically they'd order the 0805 though as it's a better result but all models are very much whatever the customer orders, the customer gets

My 0805 just landed today mate, looking forward to seeing how it runs with the different lens to the 0806. The extra ventilation on the 0806 stands out a mile off!

Has anyone worked out why the 0805 doesn't need that extra ventilation?

Or maybe it does - have you got an IR thermometer?

I haven't mate no, the initial reports so far have all been that the 0805 runs cooler than the 0803 - it's mainly for the people in hotter climates as we've seen a few 0803s with warped cases due to the batteries now.

Maybe the Omnivision sensor runs cooler than the Aptina one by design as well?

Even if it's not so critical it's nice the 0806 already has that side of things sorted :)

I haven't mate no,

I do, but with it being so cold here now I don't think I will be able to do any accurate testing in terms of heat unless I crank my cars heater up for awhile. It has been snowing here off and on

Yeah your video looks great in the snow! I do want it to snow here but on the flipside it's a pain in the arse for driving in over here as the slightest bit of frost and the roads just stop dead!
