GitUp F1 with F1.6 A129 lens

My GitUp F1 with an A129 F1.6 lens and modified firmware continues to give impressive results.

Around town at low speed, the camera extracts fine detail with good exposure and very good colour balance.

One area where this modified camera excels is driving along country lanes. Most dashcams struggle with insufficient bitrate to render the highly-detailed and rapidly-changing scenery. Falsificator's MOD runs at a default 100Mbps, but I have seen peaks in excess of 160Mbps in some situations.

This first example was recorded at around 40mph, in dull grey conditions

This next frame was recorded at about 50mph, again in dull overcast conditions

4K 30fps 80Mbps Video Sample
GitUp F1 with A129 F1.6 lens. Modified Firmware MOD#1.5+Sharp at Fine quality setting.

It's very hard to see any difference in the video output between Superfine (100Mbps) and Fine (80Mbps). The obvious benefit is extending recording times by 25%.

How does this lens compare to the new 90 degree that Gitup sells?

Can you give us your assessment on how hot the cam gets using the improved firmware?

How does this lens compare to the new 90 degree that Gitup sells?
Sorry - I don't have one to compare directly. It's F2.5, compared to the F1.6 lens I'm using from the A129, so I would expect more motion blur and reduced brightness at night. In terms of FOV, the 90deg will be much smaller. I reckon I'm getting around 140deg with this A129 lens.

Not hot at all, though we're just coming into Spring so hardly warm temperatures around here. I'll try to do some subjective tests after driving on a warm, sunny day.

The joovuu x cam did get warm, but hard to tell if it got substantially warmer by running the +10 mbit firmware i used in the end.
F1 seem to be in a better housing than the X cam, and i am not sure if the Ambraella SOC have seen a node shrink and so should have a smaller thermal footprint now.

Today I decided to do a quick run with the modified F1 running official GitUp v1.2 firmware, alongside my Viofo A129 also running official V1.50 firmware.

F1 - 4K 30fps, Superfine quality (60Mbps), EV+0, Medium sharpness, GitUp colour profile
A129 - 1080p 30fps, High bitrate (16Mbps), EV-0.3

4K 30fps 100Mbps / MOD#1.6
Testing different colour profiles in MOD FW. My personal preference is the default GitUp profile

GitUp / Sepia (modified by @Falsificator) / Vivid

On the sepia the blue ( GB TAG ) sem to not having changed, but the red and yellow seem more vivid in the sepia, though the vivid also seem to make the blue pop a bit and be more light blue compared to the sepia above.

PS: i have the same blue tag on my plates but fracking EU, i forgot to say i dident want that BS on my plates when i got the car, even DK i would not have there i want just a white plate with the number on and nothing else.
If EU or DK want to have me driving around and be a billboard for them, they better pay up,,,,, which they don't, more like the other way around.

Hi! I guess, it would be quite interesting to see such comparison of G3 Duo with latest firmware mod vs F1 and A129.

Are you referring to the G3, F1 and A129 firmware modifications by BCHobbyist? I'm running a different FW MOD on the F1 by Falsificator.

The number plate sellers will be doing very well here soon, everyone who forgot to order "no EU flag" will have to get new plates!

Great, thanks! That would be awesome to check how good or bad it works compared to other devices/mods.

Only if we want to drive 'over there'. I chose to remain, so I'm keeping my plates as they are.
