Hard wiring a Mio MiVue C330

I am thinking of getting a Mio MiVue C330 dashcam and was going to hardwire it using a piggy back fuse connector, I see you can get a hardwire kit for approx £35 but this lets you use a camera with Parking Mode, but I don't want that, the question is would I be able to cut the cigarette lighter end off the power lead and connect that to the piggy back fuse, or do I have to get the box if tricks in the proper Mio Hard Wire kit ?
