I'm a newbie on the dashcam, do I need hardwired kit? if I just want to have the dashcam turn on while the car is running and I don't need the parking guard to be on.

The cigarette adapter should be all you need. I'm a newbee & from what I've read/researched you needn't worry about the hardwire option.

Don't need a hardwire kit if you don't need the parking guard , you can use the car charger.

Thank you for your reply. I don't want to use the cigarette adapter, I want tap into the fuse box, I guess using hardwire kit make it easier to tap into the fuse box right?

and it will be easier to use the piggyback fuse type hardwire kit.

pooh.this kit does not work at all .a car with a new battery.Battery runs out after 3 days .the battery is over in 3 days in the park .(new battery 12 v. 72 A. Varta ) mini 0906 camera is very amps.mini 0906 camera did not account for it when it was manufactured .a car camera with good image quality but lots of problems .persons without technical knowledge .just sharing nonsensical information to sell the product .my mini 0906 did not solve my camera problem . https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/the-rear-camera-is-not-recording.34270/

Is someone available from mini to field a question regarding the hardwire kit. I posting here because thread already started. The instructions clearly state 3 wire configuration needed for parking guard. The one sent from ventor is only 2 wire. IS A 3 WIRE CONFIGURATION NEEDED FOR PARKING GUARD TO WORK.....SIMPLE........YES OR NO & IF NO......HOW DOES THIS DIFFER FROM 3-WIRE CONFIGURATION. I went to mini site but no email or anything related to tech support offered.

My first unit of Mini 0906 was one from the faulty series (out of focus lens, dead gps unit, settings resetting) and after a long dealings with the retailer Conkim I have got a new unit and (as a satisfaction) a hard wire kit (for my additional shiping costs). But now I am wondering what to do with it...

Because it comes with four wire types (Regular ATO, Mini, Low profile Mini, Micro2) and all four wires are with 5 amps (just like the kit at the pic above). And I wish to connect red cable to constant power and yellow cable to ignited power (and black cable to ground) following this post https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/hard-wire-connection-problems.33347/#post-395161.

My car is VW Golf mk7 my13 and as far as I know it is not possible to wire my car (driving mode + parking guard) with the kit. It seems I need an additional fuse with more amps (and/or an additional fuse tap).

Or missed I something? Thanks

those additional wires above ARE piggy back fuses. Think of them as an additional fuse slot in 1 location. If I'm not mistaken the top position slot is for the mini & lower slot for existing fuse.

Ok thanks. I just realized that I could combine fuses with different amps in two slots of one piggyback (and it is a new word for me). So maybe I could use one regular tap (eg for ignited power) and one mini tap (constant power). Now to find the right ones...

Hi, your dash cam is mini0906 or other mini dash cam? the mini 0801S 0805P and 0906 all need 3 wires kit for parking mode, mini 0807 mini0907and mini Q9 need OBDII power plug or 3 wires kit for parking mode.

I have got the same 3 wires kit as at the pic above (but not installed yet) and I believe the yellow wire should be connected to the ignited power via 1st wire tap, the red wire to the constant power via 2st wire tap and the black wire to the ground. Something like this:

https://www.google.sk/search?q=dash...AUICigB&biw=1920&bih=947#imgrc=CK37DrcNyWOMzM:

Now my cam is powered by the OBD buck line https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Jun...924.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dE1bmUG (with simply but useful on/off button) and I think the OBD powering way is user friendly but if I set the time lapse parking mode in 0906 it will do only the motion detection parking mode.

Another valuable information for me:

So if I were to use that fuse for the parking mode, does that mean I would need a 15amp fuse?
You may use the same rating or lesser. I use 10amp

on ignition only power fuse on the right, it is tapped into the cigarette lighter fuse, which has an amp rating of 20. For that one I would be using that original fuse that is in there and for the added fuse, would a 5A fuse work as well?
I use 10amp too on this.

https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/blackvue-650-hardwiring-help-mk7-vw-gti.14893/#post-195504

since I will not be using the trailer module for its intended use, I would just need 1 10A fuse in the bottom spot?
Yes for just one fuse but located at the top. The bottom slot is for the original device. Since you are not using it, you do not need a fuse for the bottom. Just put on the top where it use for the cam.

And for the cigarette lighter fuse, I would be using the original 20A fuse on the bottom and a 10A on the top?
Yes sir. Correct.

Now make I see you are using the Piggy Back fuse adapter, please ensure the bottom fuse is the original rating and the top is the one for the dash cam.

Oops....sorry about that. Yes its the mini 0906.

Please could somebody add a pic or link for the mentioned 3 wires kit for the 0906 parking mode? Yes, not all OBDII power plug are suitable for the parking mode function, it needs hardware and firmware, If you like the OBDII power plug, the Mini Q9 has this function, this link:

Thanks for the information and I am still searching the best solution for the powering. My goal is to be able to manually operate an on/off state of the dash cam (without unplugging the power cable from 0906).

In the case of Hard Wire Kit (installation with all three wires). What will happen if I turn off the 0906 manually (with Parking Guard set to active and ignition on) and then I lock the car (so ignition is off). Is the camera dead until next ignition start or wake up shortly in the parking mode please?

Or maybe the software solution. But I think this is not much user friendly plus it seems that I need a firmware downgrade (to be able to operate the Parking Guard and/or Motion Detection). I think it means: Power Off Delay -> permanent ON (eg 5 minutes) and Parking Guard (and/or Motion Detection) -> (switching between) OFF/ON (btw the User's Guide states Motion Detection regarding the Power Off Delay).

About the heading DOWN (I presume it is the position A at the pic below) vs UP of the piggytail tap (golf mk7 or octavia mk3) I discovered following:

For those needing to know what I'm referring to, the ones that have to slots for fuses that act as the extension of the ACC and BATView attachment 32587

And this useful comment (and whole thread) https://www.briskoda.net/forums/top...-setups/?page=19&tab=comments#comment-4968706

Yeh, I read right through that forum as well, and watched a few YT videos on the piggyback taps..... and from what I could work out, pointing down is MORE correct than the other way around.

BOTH ways will operate..... BUT the correct way will operate both circuits independently and in parallel (ideal) and the wrong way around will operate both circuits dependently and in series (NOT ideal).

The dash cam actually could not auto start and shutdown because you use the parking guard kit, which would let the dash cam always have the power to work.
So when you manually turn off the dash cam, the next time if you want to use it, you need to manually power it on.
That is what the parking mode do.
So if you want the dash cam would auto on and off, you just use the provided car charger cable.

I hope this is the way how to manually operate an on/off state of the hardwired dash cam. But when I manually turn off the camera (and it is powered via obd buck line) then it will automatically turn on with the ignition on.

just completed final hookup of hardwire kit above earlier today & went out to check. Its still running as expected. I live in the U.S east coast area..its 3 am & has been on since I parked early last eve. Will review the footage in the morning. I noticed when viewing footage its says its 1920x1080....I thought max res. was 1080. I really like the quality of video & have been checking the readability of plates which for the most are ok when stepping thru segments. So far so good,
