Hi, I'm wondering if some knowledgable person can help me with my scenario.
I have a SGZC12SG wired from my windscreen to a 12v socket in the boot (trunk) of my car. The socket is not permanently live, but ignition controlled.
I have been told that the accessory fuse only needs to be moved up one notch to make it permanently live. This would enable me to use the parking feature, however I would have no control over the battery discharge. Therefore I'm wondering, is there any battery saving device that I can place between the 12v socket and the cigarette plug on the camera's lead that will do the same thing.
I suppose I could hardwire in the dashboard, but the car is brand new, and I'd rather have something that could be removed easily if required.

I've just seen this on Amazon, and wondering if it would work ok.

That will do what you want but it doesn't provide any technical data so there's no way of knowing at what voltage it switches off power to the outlet.
The other option is to use a USB Power Bank something like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172474013265Plug the charger into your switched USB charging socket (presumably your car will have at least one) then plug the dash cam into the outlet on the charger.
The power bank will re-charge while you are driving and the dash cam will be powered by the power bank when you turn off the ignition.

Thanks Error7, however the 12SG runs on 12v not 5v, so a power bank would not help.

As an aside to that, I thought it was bad practice to use a power bank whist it was charging?

these types of devices generally have preset cutoff voltages which are not always suited for all vehicle types, you're on teh right track though

look at the Multi Safer, Power Magic Pro, Vico Power Plus type devices and you'll see how those are more suited to this task

Multi Safer and Vico Power Plus have option to switch between ACC and permanent live, and if you have selected permanent ( always on ) they are controlled by timer and voltage cut-off set values.
