Having problems with new C3 after first day..

I bought a C3 from the UK reseller Webbex

After seeming to work well at the start I now find that the unit fails to start or when it does the video is very poor similar to a problem mentioned on an earlier thread by parklawn in the magenta flash issue thread in April.
I suspect it could be a dodgy wire lens that perhaps is not connecting properly. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

tried the camera again and all I get is continuos red light on unit so I can only assume it's not recording

Thanks Rock, posted camera and HDMI lens cable back as they requested, hopefully no further cost will be made to get the camera working as it should.
