Long road trip's that the dash cam can record constantly and not loop,
takes a 128 micro sd card,
HD quality so you can see street and exit sign's.
Record's good in the dark.
large screen or wi-fi so you can view it and control it from a smart phone.
Suction cup mount.
Withstand the sun beating down on it.

I recently bought a Mini 0806 that totally failed, had error messages that you couldn't see on the screen, I liked the dual sd card's though and i didn't like the way you mounted it to the windshield with 2 sided tape.

I tried to use my go pro hero silver and it got too hot in the windshield.

Any specific brand's and modle's i can look for?

Thank's Scott

Thank's Gabacho.
Anyone out there ever try these out?
Falcon 1440P, This is a unit that uses 2 sided tape and you can use up to a 256 gig Micro SD card and record up to 48 hour's for 139$.
Falcon 1296P. This unit has a suction cup mount and you can use up to a 64 gig Micro SD card and record up to 12 hours for 119$.
Not that i think a person need's to keep recording for longer than 12 hour's and not have time to swap out the card.

Here is the info on the 1440.

And here is the 1296.

Both unites claim to record this way....
  • Seamless loop-cycle recording function for maximizing the camera's memory by recording over old, uneventful videos once it is full

I think lukas cameras are the record holder with up to 1 Tb of memory in the models with 2 memory card slots ( 2 X 512 Gb )

But the large memory cards are awful expensive.

I really really wish some one would support Thumb drives or portable hard drives for storage.

No dashcam can do that. If you don't set loop recording the camera will stop recording when it reaches the 4GB FAT32's single file size limit.

Like you said yourself:

So if you use a 64 or 128GB card you can safely record your trips without being worried about files being overwritten.

Thank's for the get back, Module.
Copy that on the full HD and the 1440 speck's.
The reason i want it to record constantly is to get the hole trip as one file and not have to try and join them all together. I used that mini 0806 and it had so many files and segment's in the trip it flat didn't record that it was useless. Plus there was no rime or reason to the order of the files to even begin to join them in the correct order of the trip.
I see Garmin makes a dash cam as well and here's it's link

No info on how long it will record with it's max 64 Gig SD card but they do offer software and it may join the files together.

If i knew a easy way to join the 5 min. long loop's then i wouldn't mind if the dash cam doesn't record constantly.

you can record a whole trip in one go, the file will be segmented (think chapters on a DVD movie) and can easily be joined or exported as one large file if you prefer, best not to judge all cameras on your experience with the 0806

Beware, that is just a player, not editing software.

You have Registrator Viewer, for instance. It can join all the 5 mins clips into a single file, like @jokiin said, and you can even remove the 1 sec overlap between clips so when you play the whole video it doesn't jump back every 5:01 mins.

Viofo A119 does not have that one second overlap.

Back to recommended camera, for sure it should have capacitor. The A119 have capacitor and also time-lapse but it does not have suction cup so you need to look for another camera.

enjoy,
Mtz
