At last I did it .
I took a cheap USB powered dashcam and wired it to a sensor light .
A) I had to remove the LED's as they caused serious problems to the video quality .
B) The internal battery was hopeless
C) Added a battery carrier , which takes a full size 18650
D) Since this is a sensor light , it only works in the dark and low light conditions .
E) Its solar recharged , And I can replace the external 18650 if needed .
F) It actually works .

Mine's a G1W/s stuck to a window running off a phone charger. 128GB Samsung EVO Select. Has been recording continuously for about 2 years now, checked the card last month- everything is still doing fine

I did a version of this about 8 or 9 years ago after I retired my first dash cam. I have some posts, photos and screen shots on the forum about it somewhere but I can't remember where. It was early DCT. I used the camera to monitor a sliding glass door onto the deck in the back of my house where I had a break in one time.

Im going to have to do another ...
This time I will use a motion detector to fire up the cam .. Fun project .. I have some footage .
