How do you activate emergency recording?

I haven't opened the box yet because I want to double check a few things in case I decide to exchange/return it (had to buy it before the sale ended).

I did a few searches and I believe there is a proximity sensor on the side, however I found conflicting results saying that was to toggle audio on/off and that was to activate emergency recording.

Can someone confirm if there is emergency recording for this model?

On the older 650GW it was used to toggle the audio.

I've got the older model but I've seen somewhere in this forum that it's used to start manual recording, and the file in the viewer is identified with "M".

However, the DR650S manual, which was updated Dec 2016 (blackvue.com/support) still shows the button/proximity sensor as voice recording on/off.

The proximity sensor input is just to activate voice recording. The camera has three recording modes: normal recording, event recording (impact detection), and parking mode recording (motion & impact detection).

It depends which model and firmware you have. See my previous post.
