How do you tell why it stopped recording?

I went to my car today and the cam was beeping. I took it out and checked in USB mode to see if it was full and it still had space.

Does it say the reason on the screen? My camera is at a bad angle so it was difficult to check the screen. Does it stop recording when it's too hot?

Format the card from the menu and if it happens again try a different card.

A different card sorted it.

if you are on linux, try zero out whole sd card:

sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/mmcblk0 bs=1M

and then format from camera.
