I've had mine since 2019 and it has paid for itself six-fold (rear ended twice).

Since then I've used Viofo Products for my other cars but have not felt the need to replace my Streetguardian until now.

My SG bootloops on startup sometimes - but if I drive the car for a while, shut it off, and then restart it it seems okay? The car it is in is only driven once a week (fun car) so maybe that has something to do with it.

Anybody else experiencing the same thing? Wondering if it is nearing it's end.

I've been running mine since Sept. 2018 in my daily driver with no issues at all. I bought it as an SGGCX2Pro and updated it (firmware and rear camera) to the 'Pro+' sometime in 2019. Definitely getting my money's worth.

The boot loop could be caused by the button battery getting a bit old, especially since you don't drive it a lot. That battery does get recharged during use, but I was told by @jokiin (the founder of SG) that a severely depleted button battery can take up to 48 hours to recharge completely. Maybe put the camera on an external power source (phone charger?) for a couple of days to see if that might help.

Boot loops can also be caused by power supply issues. How is yours powered?

I've also heard anecdotal reports of bad memory card causing boot loops as well. Maybe check yours out or try a different card.

Thanks for the respone - not sure why I didn't get email notification.

My dashcam is hard wired. I'm leaning towards the internal battery being too discharged. This weekend I did the same thing, drove 40 mile to see my father and the camera was bootlooping. On the drive home, it worked fine.

I might take this as an opportunity to just buy a more modern camera for this car. The SGGCX2PRO+ certainly has paid for itself in multiple situations. The cost of it over 5 years was a tiny fraction of what I pay for car insurance in total so it might be time.

Things have moved on considerably since the GCX2pro+, you can literally say it is a whole new ballgame now.

You could of course try to replace the RTC battery inside it, but i will still recommend you look at some of the new stuff.

Yep, I'd lean towards it being the button battery as well given those symptoms.

I would try bringing the camera in the house/apartment/condo/etc. and power it up with a phone charger for a few days to see what effect that has on the problem.
