How to check if my camera is original? GS2000

I took this video with my camera is she genuine?

Hard to say if it is fake or not, but going off the video my guess would say the the quality is closer to 720p rather than 1080p. This could be due to high video compression in 1080p mode.

Here is a sample of my GS9000 in 1080p mode (make sure to select 1080p) so you can make a comparison.

I have a fake GS2000 (see my other topic). Externally there is no way I can see to identify it's a fake. Except maybe it came in a white box and the driver CD just only has star decals on it, no 'driver' writing or anything.

The menus have orange highlights and a darkgrey background, same as the "fake orange" noted on the detailed FAQ on this site about the GS1000.

The time/speed readout look exactly the same as on your video (this is how it looks on a blue menu GS1000, GS8000 and GS9000 but not on a genuine GS2000 AFAIK, but don't quote me on this)

The firmware version of my fake GS2000 looks like a date, such as '201201010'. (your picture takes too long to load I can't see it yet)

The sound and image quality is very bad. Video is very grainy and sound is crackly.

I also filmed a scooter crash soon after I got a dashcam :D but with a Carcam K6000. It's nowhere near as spectacular as yours ofcourse.

EDIT: Saw the picture. Your menu looks exactly the same as my fake GS2000, the firmware is not 'exactly' the same , but it's in the same style as mine.
The Youtube video looks kinda too blurry, but that I don't know if it looks like that on the source video or if it's due to Youtube converting it.

You're making me nervous, my firmware version is 201201022 and i bought her for 135$ from Australin seller:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ambarella-Full- ... 1154611105
He allsow selling the GS1000 and no one ever complain that the cameras are fakes.
If it a fake one i will kill my self...

I hopeing that at least my second camera is original i bought my F500LHD from estore009 two months ago and got a refuned so i will survive if she fake.

And another question is not related to the subject which camera is batter in the video Quality the GS2000 or the F500LHD?

That's a bit drastic. :)
Seems like the dashcam market is saturated with fakes, probably because you can't get the cams from the manufacturers directly and only on things like Ebay and Aliexpress. And since it's all from China there's not very strict laws regarding copying and misleading advertisements etc.

I got two dashcams and my second one is a fake GS2000 which is indeed a big disappointment because I was looking forward to playing with it, only to find out the quality was terrible, worse than the cheap one I had before, and now I have to send it back, try to get my money back and then order a new one, wait for it to arrive and hope that one is genuine. But oh well, I guess I just learned my lesson to read more on forums etc. and do more research before committing to buying. :)

I haven't personally tried either the FL500LHD or GS2000 (since it's a fake I got) but from what I've been reading around, my feel is the FL500LHD has better image quality, but is much bigger in size.

I paid too much for this camera and now it's a fake?

I ask the seller about this few weeks ago and this is the responed:

HI,

there are several factories which produce such model as it is a public model.
Each factory has own modified firmware that's why there are differences.
In addition, each factory use different lenses.

The main thing is it is Genuine Ambarella camera and not fake.
I am selling FAKE Ambarella with Novatek chip inside for $56 only and quality is **** and without GPS.

I don't suggest you to try to update firmware as it might kill device.

It does look a bit better than my camera. Mine is horrible especially in green grass/trees areas. But pretty much anywhere there's grain and noise over the video.
Another thing I noticed with my cam is that the video is jerky and it drops frames. When I go through the video frame by frame (I use avidemux) then it's very noticable that for every 4 frames, one is the same as the previous, so 25% of the frames are dropped.

Might be worthwhile to also check for that on your camera. If it's the case you might maybe have some grounds on saying that the camera is defective and needs to be returned/refunded as it does not record the promised 30FPS. :?:

I will check it, but this seller sold almost 200 GS1000 and GS2000 cameras and no one has complain that they are fakes so i dont know...
I did a test and put my two cameras on the front next to each other and then compared the videos, and I saw that the video quality of the F500LHD better and sharper then the GS2000 but not by much.

EDIT: I check the video and its 30 fps.

Then your cam is better than mine because mine sucks :D I have to drive an hour to go to the seller's house to show him how bad my GS2000 is because he won't accept refund (even though he's required to by law), so bummer. Once I got my money back I'm going to get a GS9000.

You bought your camera from a store in your country and you got a fake one?
How much the fuel cost in your country?
If I would drive an hour to each way it will cost me more than the value of the camera.

Yeah bought it online but he also had a physical business garage. I didn't really calculate but I'm guessing driving an hour roughly spends 5-10 euro worth of gas.
I got my money back which I'm happy about :)

So my camera is a fake?
Some one can give me answer?
