How to distinguish an upgraded version by serial number?

Hello guys,

I have just received a Viofo Mini 2 cam with serial no. starting with: A119MS... Can you tell if it is a version with an upgraded lens or it can not be told only by a serial number? At Viofo website, there are 2 firmware files available: V2.1_20250409 for cams with serial numbers starting with: A119MS and newer - V3.2_20260203 for cams with: A119MN serial nos. Does it have to do with the upgraded lens or not? And my last question: do you recommend upgrading this cam's firmware or not? I ask because my older A119 Mini wi-fi connection to the app stopped working right after an upgrade, so maybe it isn't worth it.

Thank you, Chuck. Thing here is, if I unpack the cam I will not be able to return it, hence I asked the question if there was a way to tell by the serial number. I wrote to 2 Polish shops, a dealer and Viofo as well with this subject.

No; after having watched available comparisons, despite the obvious technical advantage, as far as pure licence plates recognition, I decided upon the older brother.

Sorry to post under my post, but I can not edit: I have just received a reply from VIOFO stating that serials starting with "A119MS" and "A119MN" are just different batches of the same product and there are no differences in hardware whatsoever; so the lens is the same as in latest production batch.

I recently noticed a similar subject on the forum, but upon posting I wasn't aware it is there.

Revision 2 units of the A119 Mini 2, featuring an updated lens, have a serial number starting with A119MS2330****.
