That's very interesting! I was under the impression that the Amish shun anything electrical. Thanks to your post, I've learned that that's not quite true and that they are big users of batteries for devices such as flashlights, especially LEDs.

polar opposite of the joggers i see here. the ones here seem to favor wearing all black with no reflectors or lights, and only go running at night. and then they get all pissy when you honk at them or slam on your brakes and nearly hit them - because they insist on running in the road instead of on the sidewalk a mere 3 feet away.
at least this guy seemed to have a high-vis vest and reflectors on his pant legs, in addition to the light. but even houston's suicidal runners usually have enough sense to stay close to the curb.
